Six years ago, Greg Abbott came to this school and promised to invest in public education.
Now this school is at risk of closing.
Abbott is no longer working for the nearly 6 million school children of Texas — he’s working for the billionaires who write $6 million checks.
There is only one real "emergency" from @GregAbbott_TX's State of the State address:
To stop him from defunding our #txed schools, diverting our children's money, and defrauding our Texas taxpayers through a corrupt voucher scam.
The play is in the #txlege House. Call them now!
This isn't how democracies function. We don't withhold funding of our societal/government institutions in exchange for political support, that's blackmail quid pro quo...something us educators can be fired for. We take trainings every summer in Pro-Dev for this.
Voucher scams give welfare to the well off, while the #txlege proposes giving crumbs to the most vulnerable students. Our Texas public schools educate all children, not just some, yet we have chronically underfunded them & now it takes at least $40 Billion to be averagely funded.
Abbott admits to holding teacher pay hostage to get school vouchers passed.
It’s a scam and a game to a person that could care less about public education.

The Austin Delegation just held a press conference denouncing @GovAbbott's voucher scams.
He’s attacked our teachers, he’s targeted our libraries, & now he’s coming for our neighborhood schools.
We will stand strong for our public schools because Texas kids deserve better.
Privatizers of #txed are sucking our schools dry of resources, re-segregating them by race, class & religion, and abandoning any pretext of the universal system of free public schools mandated by the Texas Constitution.
That’s what @GregAbbott_TX vouchers are all about. #txlege
@GregAbbott_TX@TPPF Smoke and mirrors. Parents have always had a choice. If you think public Ed is so bad, you have been in charge and appointed the commissioner of education. Only yourself to blame.
Great visits in #txlege House today!
Clearly, the voucher plan doesn’t have the votes.
If you have to resort to threats to pass a program, you have already lost.
The bipartisan caucus against vouchers and for #txed is growing!
No vouchers in Texas. Not now. Not ever.
