This is sad.
Anagha is leaving India.
The girl that's trying to store data in bacterial DNA.
She even made it work - the prototype.
And she did it working out of a tiny lab and Rs 5 crore in funding.
So we can't really blame her.
She is just trying to keep her dream alive.
But I wish we are able to solve the problem of patient capital - the kind that cares more about innovation instead of the ROI.
In 2015, 3 billionaires (Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and Reid Hoffman) plus a few millionaires committed $1B to an AI research company.
Its goal was not to generate the most ROI but to "advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity as a whole".
That's just what 4 billionaires were able to do.
India has 250+ billionaires.
We just need a few of them to take these moonshot bets to make a difference.
Any takers?
india ke paas paise ki kummi nahi hai. awareness ki hai.
BioCompute, @y_unstoppably 's company, has raised over 5 crores over the last 2 years from: WTF fund, Grad Capital, 1517 Fund and more.
If I wrote about all the awards that she has won in the last two years, I would miss the point.
The point is: she is leaving. For two reasons:
1. Capital
2. Talent
In one of the many conversations i have had with her, this one stuck with me:
"There are Indians in the US who I know I will be hiring. They don't want to raise their kids there. They want to come home."
So this isn't about talent either. It's about money. If there's capital for people like Anagha, starting with Anagha, the dam will break.
Bring our men and women home. Spread the word. If you're a VC interested in being part of BioCompute's Seed round, email me: [email protected] or check the link in bio.
And by the way, this isn't a last ditch effort to help Anagha raise her Seed round. She has commitments in SF. that's quite literally why she is moving there.
This is a small attempt to keep bleeding edge DNA storage technology within Indian borders. I believe in Anagha.

“If 3 men bring you to some bushes, it should be obvious what’s about to happen.”
And what exactly is a 17-year-old girl supposed to do about it when surrounded by three rapists? I can barely believe what I’m reading. This is like something from the 1950s. It’s insane. What the fvck actually is this? @Lfromthenorth, is this kind of ruling common in Finland? I thought jury trials were the reason rapists don’t get convicted, but it looks like the problem is just men.
In 10 or so years when Cuba's new free market reforms drastically improve the countries economy, Communist liars will replace China in this meme with Cuba and claim it as successful socialism.
Chinese teenager was forced to work in construction site because he belongs to low caste, where urban boys enjoy the privilege by all means. Why china is so casteist? 🥺
After indian X users breached great firewall of China , chinese women are now openly declaring their caste in proposals on Chindian marriage websites🤣🤣🤣
He stabbed her 23 times in the head with a screwdriver.
You have to take a moment to realise just how unbelievably brutal that would have been. Im sure her poor mother and sister, and her beautiful little boy - when he's old enough to understand - will have spent all this time emotionally agonising about what that poor women went through.
And the police response was to manage her feelings and what she said about it.
Ok 👌
Slums and poverty exist in Vietnam as well.
If we start showing only a handful of locations then India will start looking better than the USA/Europe 🤣
In 24 hours, the world has heard more about the Scotsman who stabbed 5 Arabs and killed none, than it will ever hear about the Arab who beheaded a 14-year-old German boy in May, or the Arab who beheaded a German woman in Italy in February.
