@eswnl Hi John, it looks like GOES-14 has been reactivated for testing (EWS-G3), its txing GVAR and MDL (+raw) on L band, same as GOES-15 (EWS-G2). Seems its only doing FDs. Its slowly drifting west, at 120°East atm if you want to try receiving it.
Frequencies same as GOES-15.

@nekozenoshin Btw for someone who knows soldering, this should be a walk in the park 5min job. If the pads came loose, maybe 15 minutes or a bit more, should be under an hour still. If you got any friends who do soldering (or microsoldering), ask and i would say they should be able to fix it!

@LogHorizon4_JP @IgnisDivinus @rpcs3 The I7 2600k gets p much the same score as Ryzen 3 3200 in cinebench r15, and even slightly more than the Ryzen in cinebench r20.
This *too old, upgrade* thing is dumb.
Does it run what you play and handles other stuff you do? Keep it untill it wont , then upgrade.

@MichaelSmicqfw @TechPowerUp Sorry, bit thats gone. The art of running games at native res at decent performance without frame gen and upscalers is a lost art, and not profitable for them.
PBR and games that were done right are now rare. Look at how well DOOM Eternal ran and looked on older mid range cards.

Take NOAA-15, a weather sat designed for 3 year lifetime, and it operated for 27 years, in fact it was still mostly healthy after that but its shutdown was forced by operator loosing funding (political things)

@Linklevosstwins @Billzilla5 @aakashgupta Now just because a sat was expected to last, or planned to work for some time doesnt mean it wont go over it. For smth like geostationary sat, they usually cant go much longer than planned because of station keeping fuel thats proportional to the planned operational lifetime.

@Ai_Auroveil @fanterox Maybe my standards are bit lower, but i enjoyed games like Tomb raider 2013 at high settings, Rise of the tomb raider, both being kinda old at this point, and they still looked nice to me. Or stuff like Doom 2016, or even Doom 3 from 2004, ofc thatone not being as much high q.

@Ai_Auroveil @fanterox Yeah, or even new ones if i wanted... Lot of people hate amd gpus, but honestly i havent had much problems, drivers are fine too.
Could check newer radeons, the RX470 does still run fps i play at 144, monitor is 180Hz FHD. Dont really need high settings for bit of fast fps gaming

@Ai_Auroveil @fanterox Honestly, if i really wanted to play something, main limitation would be my gpu, the old RX470. Otherwise i have a Ryzen 5 3600 and 24GB of ram, which could handle even like a 30 series, it used to be an amazing gaming cpu couple years back.

@Ai_Auroveil @fanterox Hope it lasts then, my gpu is slowly aging lol, almost 10 years old, but it does run the little stuff i play... And i have plenty of cpu and memory for work stuff.
I hope they either make performance/s better on 60 series instead, i really cant see them going up in pwr even more

Just dont put anything decorative really near the power con on the gpu (40/50series?)
Not trying to scare, but the vhpwr con really is underspecd, and you dont want anything easilly flamable near it.

@JayOKane @TidyWire Not really. Take a look at even some early gpus that would naturally be more expensive... 2003 ATI Radeon 9600, a mid range card back then was 149$ new, adjusted for today would be about 250$. What mid range card is now 250?
10y after, prices were still p similar for mid card
