โ๏ธ Great tech doesn't automatically mean a great market fit, especially when you cross the Atlantic.
After 20+ years in European enterprise tech, our latest contributor, Snezana Zivcevska, moved from Amsterdam to Atlanta and started mentoring founders in Georgia Tech's CREATE-X (@gtcreatex) program. What stood out: founders here bring customers, mentors and investors into the conversation early, while they're still shaping the business.
Her advice for European companies eyeing the US? Swap "How do we enter the market?" for "What do we need to learn before we scale?" And Atlanta might be the best place to find out.

What if a career fair skipped the long lines, the stack of printed resumes and the โjust apply onlineโ brush-off?
That was the idea behind Not A Career Fair, which hit Tech Square and the Biltmore Innovation Center yesterday. @hackerhouseco founder Yamil Quispe Silva built it around his own frustrations as a student job hunter. Companies reviewed every resume ahead of time, booked interview slots in advance and came ready to make offers on the spot.
More than 30 fast-growing startups showed up looking for builders, with juniors and seniors from Georgia Tech, Emory, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Morehouse, Spelman and Agnes Scott in the room. The goal: at least one hire per company, ideally the same day.
Itโs the latest move from the team behind the new HackerHouse at the Biltmore Innovation Center, and they plan to run it every semester.

From the universal to the nuanced. From concentrated power to a participatory approach. From exclusive to inclusive.
In 2010, Dr. Shaowen Bardzell, a Professor and Chair of Georgia Techโs School of Interactive Computing, published a foundational paper titled โFeminist HCI: Taking Stock and Outlining an Agenda for Design.โ
And now, 16 years later, this paper has received over 1,700 citations from researchers all across the world, has provided a systematic way for designers to investigate their assumptions, and continues to inspire researchers, including right here in Tech Square.
In this publication to provide structure on the evaluation and application of feminist HCI into interaction design, Bardzell outlines six characteristics of feminist interaction design, including pluralism, participation, and advocacy.
From projects focused on deeply human experiences to fashion and technology, AI in healthcare, and the environmental footprint of AI infrastructure, what unites these projects is their roots in Bardzellโs 2010 publication and ongoing commitment to feminism.

At first, determining site readiness for artificial intelligence's physical infrastructure sounds straightforward. Find a property. Check the land and building. Look at the zoning. See whether power and fiber are nearby. Work through the economics.
But once you start verifying those factors, โsite readinessโ gets harder to define.
Read how Mosaic Ventures has been testing some of these questions against real Atlanta properties to better understand what โsite readinessโ really means ๐ https://t.co/dwdc0CbwpL

Threading a line of orange barrels at midnight, with the highway lane pinching down and a semi filling your mirror, is nobody's idea of a good time.
And Georgia runs more than 500 active work zones at any given time, ranking fourth in the nation for fatal work zone crashes involving large trucks.
A new study published in Future Transportation asks whether artificial intelligence can help traffic signals reduce traffic congestion in work zones while also reducing safety risks around the work zone merge.

While enrolled at Spelman College, Naomi Wagner, a political science student, was involved in voter engagement efforts in Atlanta. From the office where she was reaching out to voters, she could see an emergency care clinic across the street. As she kept looking at the medical building, she reflected on what she was seeing. She asked herself, โHow would people get to this location, so far from transit options and the center of the city?โ
As a result, Naomi wanted to bring together her interests in civic engagement, environmental justice, sustainability, and education, and when she learned about the SDG Futures Fellowship, she couldnโt wait to apply.
๐ The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are at the core of the SDG Futures Fellowship. โWe take a global to local impact approach,โ said Anna Tinoco-Santiago, co-lead of the SDG Futures Fellowship Program and Community Engagement Manager at the Georgia Tech Center for Sustainable Communities Research and Education (SCoRE) in the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems (BBISS), related to how the fellowship applies the global framework of the SDGs to make a local impact.
As a fellow, Wagner built skills in data analysis and social determinants of health, and she even contributed to a project with the nonprofit after the initial fellowship ended.

๐ง Some brain tumors sit where a surgeon's tools can't go. The MEMS Lab in TSRB led by Dr. Azadeh Ansari is working on that problem.
Ansari, Ph.D. student Emmett Freeman, and Emory neurosurgeon Dr. Kimberly Hoang are building microrobots about the size of a grain of sand. Magnets outside the body steer them along curved paths through brain tissue, so they could one day take biopsies, deliver medicine, or place electrodes in spots that are hard to reach today.
The whole project started because Hoang saw a viral story about Ansari's early robots. Now the team has a patent filed, early funding lined up, and Freeman spent the summer in Quadrant-i's 2026 cohort figuring out how to turn it into a company.
