Realistic faces and scripted interactions are relatively easy to produce. The harder problem is reliable autonomous task execution in unstructured environments, sustained operation over long periods, and turning that capability into work that someone is actually paying for.

Lifelike appearance and useful autonomous hours remain two different things.

⚡️IVIS project: Building a Sustainable Future for Voroklini Lake ⚡️

The first year of the #IVIS project - Initiative for #Voroklini Lake Integrated #Sustainability - has laid a strong foundation for the future management and restoration of Voroklini Lake. 🌊

Led by the Larnaka Municipality, with #CMMI as the implementation and scientific partner, IVIS brings together local and national stakeholders to develop an updated management plan for this important #Natura 2000 site. 🦆

💡During the first year, three #stakeholder meetings were held in #Larnaka. Together, these meetings focused on stakeholder and #data mapping, identifying the main pressures affecting the lake, reviewing bird, water-quality and hydrological data, defining shared management objectives, discussing potential #restoration measures, and addressing #governance, invasive species, land-use, drainage and sewage-related issues. 🐠

💡The project team also participated in the #FutureLakes all-partner meeting in Gdańsk, #Poland, from 24–26 March 2026. CMMI representatives Dr. Leda Cai and Dr. Vasilis Louca presented the IVIS project and the emerging findings from Voroklini Lake. The meeting provided opportunities to exchange #knowledge on lake restoration, water governance, financing and the evaluation and upscaling of restoration measures.

💡The year ahead will focus on translating the evidence and stakeholder input into practical #management measures, refining indicators and targets, developing governance arrangements, coordinating invasive-species and #infrastructure actions, and preparing the updated Voroklini Lake Management #Plan and Upscaling #Roadmap.

🤝We sincerely thank our FutureLakes partners and all participating stakeholders for their valuable contributions: Together, we are turning #knowledge, #collaboration and #innovation into practical action for the long-term sustainability of Voroklini Lake.
