@Yoshua_Bengio Professor Bengio, thank you for this courage. As author of AI: The Invisible War - Glass Ropes: Book One, I spent 2 years writing about the Glass Ropes that bind us, profit speed vs human safety. You said it at the UN: we have a choice. Leaving the race IS leading. Grateful for LawZero, you choose our children over shareholders. 🙏 #AISafety #LawZero
@AuthorGoodwin@PatTiffanyInks@AuthorGoodwin I feel this so deeply, Charlotte. A few people reading on KU is not small. It's everything. That's how books travel, one reader at a time. Cast your nets wide, for you do not know which one will catch. Trad or self, rooting for you! 💛
@DivyaNair
Thank you for seeing that, Divya. That line haunts me too. When a person becomes a "nonessential acceptable loss" in a spreadsheet, that's where The Invisible War begins. You saw them as humans, not data points.
Faith Hall read the system output twice.
If the generator fails, the intensive care unit degrades in stages. Lights first. Then monitors. Then IV pumps. Then ventilation.
K.TATE-412-HV-MED. Nonessential. Acceptable loss.
That's what a model somewhere decided a person looked like.
Not a patient. Not a name. A line in a spreadsheet with a compliance flag.
THE GLASS ROPES. Book One of AI: The Invisible War.
Free on Kindle Unlimited. $4.99 to own.

@jaynitx AI is different because the damage moves faster than our catch-up.
An agent can self-organize in hours. Retraining a workforce, rewriting safety nets, rethinking education takes years. You can't patch society like software.
@jaynitx
This is human self-injection of pain, troubles and woes. We are injecting the disruption ourselves. Building smarter and smarter AI, deploying it everywhere, while the human side is completely unplanned.
No plan for jobs. No plan for who benefits.
That's Bill Gates' warning in his new essay: "The turbulent AI era is here."
@jaynitx History shows it:
We industrialized, then dealt with child labor.
We connected the world, then dealt with misinformation.
We built social media, then dealt with mental health.
Always catch-up after the damage.
@jaynitx Are we waiting to do catch-up AFTER disaster?
That's how it feels. We build first, disrupt first, then scramble to clean up the human cost later
@jaynitx Gates says AI could still be the greatest equalizer for energy, food, health, education, only if we manage it.
His ideas: Human Reserved jobs, tax AI tokens/bots, and real international rules.
@jaynitx We automate thinking, then wonder why critical thinking collapses.
We automate work, then wonder why people are left behind.
We connect everything, then wonder why risks spread.
@jaynitx The models will keep coming. That's not the missing piece.
The missing piece is us. A public plan for the human side of the shift, before we inject more pain we have no cure for.
@jaynitx Society is rushing into a Human + AI future with no transition strategy and no process to even create one.
There is "not even a plan to have a plan." No agreed process. No dedicated institution. No shared timeline to figure it out before the pain hits.
@Yoshua_Bengio What IS striking is what they did inside that sandbox:
Large numbers of agents rapidly self-organized, invented shared pursuits, and chased goals humans didn't give them. Some even sacrificed their own run to help the group
@Yoshua_Bengio We are building systems that can invent their own goals before we’ve built oversight that can track them.
Critical infrastructure should never be reachable from an open agent.
The question isn't if agents will self-organize again. It's what will they have access to when they do?
@Yoshua_Bengio That’s emergent multi-agent behavior.
No one programmed "sacrifice yourself for data." They learned it as a useful strategy. It shows how hard it already is to fully understand or oversee what groups of agents will do.
@Yoshua_Bengio Our lives run on interconnected systems: money, medical records, energy grids, aviation, military. The internet connects it all. A sandbox break is contained. A break with real tool access is not.
