Last days of Manitoba Indigenous Games at Tec Voc.
We had fun introducing students to the activites and look forward to building a program that highlights culture, inclusivity, & helps students find ways to challenge themselves.

Foxtails & Targets π¦π―
This game works on targeting skills using the foxtail.

Our record height for today's One Foot High Kick: 86 inches!
Way to set the bar high... rather the 'ball', lol.
A great start for our first day of competition.

The 'Strong Person Carry' is meant to reflect the heavy loads Metis voyageurs carried on their backs for long distances using a tumpline across their forehead.
Here, students are timed for running with a load for 50 meters.

'Screaming Eagle' emphasizes honestly as students run as far as they can on one scream. When they can't yell any longer they put down the ownership stick they were running with. This stick would have been used to mark a kill for later retrieval.

Then they practice a few times and find ways to add flourishes to it.

What better way to start #Squatober off than with our Athletic Strength & Conditioning students showing off their squats.
Today's workout had them learning how to increase the challenge of an exercise with simple little changes.

First post of the new school year!
Might as well show our gmgard working grade 9 students applying some of the footwork they learned in their agility and reaction time focused lesson.
