Today my family and I are thinking about you and yours, and hoping you are enjoying great food, great company (even over video call!), and good health.
Happy Thanksgiving!
This year I am thankful for all of the Portlanders who have gone above and beyond to come together to support our community. The people of our city have embodied the values of kindness, caring, and looking out for our neighbors.
On Veterans Day we proudly pay tribute to all our veterans and their families for their distinguished service to our country. We are grateful for their many sacrifices to protect our freedoms—on this and every day. Thank you. #VeteransDay2020
It’s time to close a tumultuous chapter in our history and move forward as a city—united. I look forward to working with the Biden administration and moving our city and our country to a more honest, hopeful and resilient future.
I am grateful to be mayor of a city that overwhelmingly voted for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. We now can move forward instead of fighting against an administration that tried to move us backward. We now will have a partner in the federal government instead of an opponent.
To Portlanders, this presidential election was about what we envision for our collective future. We envision good jobs, more affordable housing, an aggressive response to climate change, a science-based response to the pandemic, and an ongoing commitment to racial justice.
Today, we learned our nation made a stand for what we are for—honesty, decency, respect and a commitment to the common good. We elected Joe Biden and rejected the Trump administration’s corrupt, hateful and harmful policies that inflamed divisiveness in our country for 4 years.
In the coming days we will need to come together as never before to address short term issues and the long term changes and investments needed to rebuild our economy, rebuild confidence in law enforcement, and restore hope for our future.
I’m spending today reaching out to undecided voters—this race is too important to sit out. Remember, ballots must be dropped off at an Official Ballot Drop Site by 8pm tonight. Find your nearest drop site here: https://t.co/NljzDiU80L

Commissioner Sten served for 11 years on the Portland City Council and is widely regarded for his commitment to affordable housing and public engagement. I’m honored to have his support.
The Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington County elections offices are working tirelessly to keep voting accessible and safe. At this point, everyone should return their ballot to a drop box — don't forget to #Vote!
📢Remember: It's too late to mail your ballot. Instead drop it off at a @MultCoElections Official Ballot Drop Site or library book drop by 8pm on Nov. 3. Vote early, if you can. Drop sites here: https://t.co/OgQqJsfMek. #OregonVotes#TrustedInfo2020
We believe in equity, inclusivity, and freedom from fear. We will not allow voter intimidation or political violence, and I will work with leaders across the government, business, faith, labor, and nonprofit sectors to stand strong against hate and protect our community members.
Today I joined Governor Brown, Attorney General Rosenblum, and other elected leaders across the state to condemn those groups who seek to promote bigotry or to intimidate and threaten our community.

I, together with my colleagues from across the state, am committed to protecting our democracy and our democratic institutions. Hate and violence have absolutely no place in Portland.
