Breaking: In response to our campaigning and public outcry, the Government has said that humanist weddings in England can be for up to 15 people (not just 6), putting them back on par with religious and civil ceremonies.
This takes effect immediately.

The claimants are currently considering whether to appeal the judgment on the narrow point of whether the present marriage law review justifies not issuing a Declaration of Incompatibility to the effect that current discriminatory marriage law breaches their Article 14 rights.
Thanks to this judgment, it is now a matter of 'when' and not 'if' humanist marriages will be legally recognised. The Government has committed to a process beginning with a consultation in September. It must work to remedy the discrimination that has been found by the court.
As morally vindicating as it is for our couples to have their complaints validated by the court, we are disappointed that a speedier remedy has not been issued. That said, the options for the Government have been narrowed: it 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 take steps to legalise humanist marriage.

Fantastic coverage of our #humanistmarriage legal case on @bbcsoutheast, underpinned by these statistics:
* 7% Brits identify as humanists
* There are already more humanist weddings in E&W than many religious ceremony types
* Humanist ceremonies most popular option in Scotland
We are bowled over by the show of support we've had since we announced our #humanistmarriage case yesterday. Emails, messages, comments, retweets galore, and lots and lots of new members all wishing power to our elbow. Greatly appreciated by us, our celebrants, and our couples 🥰
