Mitsui & Co. Digital Commodities is deploying @zipangcoin on OP Mainnet, a commodity-backed cryptoasset built on OP Stack infrastructure.
50+ chains. 6B+ transactions in 2025. The same infrastructure that runs @coinbase, @inkonchain, and @SoneiumOfficial.
If you run a protocol and you've been weighing infrastructure options, @ether_fi just ran the experiment for you. $220M migrated in three days. A live consumer product with no downtime. The path to OP Mainnet is proven. Every dollar landing now compounds for the next one.
LETS GOOO!
We just completed the single largest TVL event in OP Mainnet history.
https://t.co/RLR0RDq4fU is now live on OPM!
$220M TVL migrated over 3 days with zero disruption. 300k accounts and 70k active cards operational the entire time.
Next... more assets!
Messari report is out - The OP Stack processed 3.6 billion transactions in H2 alone. That's 13% of all transactions in crypto.
All the new L1s will learn the lessons we did 4 years ago. Performance optimizations are not differentiators.
The OP Stack is the peak of customizability. You really have to be, in order to enable such vastly different businesses & business models to succeed:
@base — consumer adoption at scale
@unichain — DeFi trading infrastructure
@worldcoin — identity for 20M+ verified users
@soneium — creators and entertainment
@inkonchain — institutional DeFi
@Celo — mobile payments
Plus @OKX migrating XLayer to OP Stack, @Official_Upbit launching @giwa_io, @EYnews deploying Nightfall for enterprise privacy.
All working because we set our roadmap based on what our partners need, not what's trending.
Your blockchain. Your revenue. Enterprise guarantees.
More at Scaling Summit next week.
Happy new year everyone! In November last year, I wrote about the changes we were making to refocus the team on what comes next for crypto.
Today, the @Optimism Foundation is proposing a token buyback. The goal is to unify the broader ecosystem outside of just our internal teams to prepare for the next wave of adoption.
Here’s where we are today: The Superchain is globally adopted infrastructure. It processes 13% of all blockchain transactions, with 61.4% of L2 fee market share.
Foundation and Labs are not solely responsible for this success. Legends like @base, @unichain, @inkonchain, @worldcoin, @Celo, @build_on_bob, @zora, @modenetwork and @Soneium chose the OP Stack and their growth demanded that we scale the infrastructure to support them. We are here today because our partners and integrators rolled up their sleeves and built together with us.
The OP token has historically had no tie to the performance of the Superchain, and we’d like to change that. OP should be an incentive alignment mechanism to unify all of us who are working towards the shared goal of innovating on the OP Stack and accelerating Superchain growth.
Every OP Chain contributes sequencer revenue to Optimism. In the past twelve months, Optimism has collected 5,868 ETH. This proposal directs 50% of incoming revenue to buy OP tokens monthly for the next year. OP tokens bought through this program flow back into the token treasury ecosystem. Governance retains oversight over buyback parameters and treasury management. The remaining ETH will be actively managed by the Foundation to fund operations, and grow the Superchain.
If approved, this proposal will transition OP from a pure governance token to a token tightly aligned with network growth. When an enterprise builds a new chain, the utility of the token increases and OP benefits. When builders choose the Superchain, the flywheel accelerates. Every transaction expands the base from which buybacks operate.
The governance proposal moves to vote on January 22. If approved, buybacks begin in February. We will be hosting a Twitter space with myself, @karl_dot_tech & @ben_chain on Jan 12th, 12pm EST for all your questions.
This program starts small and scales as we scale, and the role of the OP token will continue to evolve. But the direction is clear: the OP Stack is becoming the standard for the next generation of financial systems. This change aligns the OP token with that momentum, ensuring those building the most important financial infrastructure in crypto capture its impact.
This is a new era for OP, and the first of many announcements to come on our plans for 2026. Looking forward to the discussion!
A proposal for the next chapter of Optimism 🔴
The Optimism Foundation is putting forward a proposal to align the OP token with growing Superchain demand by directing 50% of incoming Superchain revenue to regular OP buybacks
Supervaults mark the end of passive liquidity. For the first time, you can capture the profits that arbitrageurs once claimed.

The Iron Giant -> The Incredibles -> Ratatouille -> Ghost Protocol is an insane fourpeat. How many animation directors in the U.S. have been able to have a run like that in the mainstream?
NYC in Winter: drab hellscape. Humans were never meant to live in cities. The West has fallen.
In Spring: greatest city ever built. A testament to human achievement. Everyone is beautiful.
ETH = certainty of security
BTC = certainty of issuance
ETH made the right choice. Security is the foundation. BTC will break the 21M hardcap to prevent a collapse in security — dropping certainty of issuance.
ETH has the superior monetary policy 🌞

If we play our cards right, we'll remember today as one of the most consequential turning points in Ethereum's history.
The last few months have been, to put it mildly, tumultuous. While it's clear that many things need to change for Ethereum to win, it's easy to overcorrect and kill the magic in search of maximal optimization. This week's announcements make me confident we've struck the right balance between these two extremes.
@tkstanczak is the only person I could imagine coming into the EF from the outside and hitting the ground running to help us accelerate. He's built a client from scratch, scaled Nethermind as one of the most successful independent Ethereum organizations in the space and travels the world non-stop to meet Ethereum builders, researchers and users. I'm stoked he'll be working with us!
@hwwonx is one of the very few people who has been involved hands on in Ethereum's transition to "Eth2" from the very beginning. She literally made the first diagram that showcased how sharding was supposed to work 😄! Her deep context about how research evolves into specifications which end up in production clients and perspective as a long-time EFer uniquely complements Tomasz' background.
I'm also delighted that the two of them will be able to rely on the wisdom and insights of both new and seasoned contributors. Ethereum's culture is unique and this is the result of both top-down and bottoms-up influence. With @AyaMiyagotchi as president of the EF board as well as formal and informal advisory circles forming, I'm confident Ethereum will remained anchored to OG values while staying relevant for newcomers.
And, last but not least, I'm thrilled to see @dannyryan joining Etherealize. "The Most Important Scarce Resource is Legitimacy" and I can think of no one else who could do a better job of helping bootstrap an organization that will carry the torch (and then some!) to get Ethereum adopted at scale.
There's a lot of work ahead of us and we shouldn't delude ourselves into taking for granted that Ethereum will succeed at the level of its ambitions. That said, we now have the best structure we've ever had to give us a fighting chance.
Let's fucking go ❤️🔥
We must scale DA on Ethereum in 2025, or the L2s will move to other chains.
If L2s also issue stablecoins or other RWAs directly vs via the L1, then that migration will be even easier and more painful for Ethereum.
Scale the consensus layer!
