We have decided that St. Albert Public Schools will not be piloting the new draft curriculum this fall. We encourage parents to review it and provide feedback to
@AlbertaEd. You can read our statement on our website: https://t.co/662DDDmirx.
Verbs are essential to the curriculum. Gr 2s will be expected to ANALYZE quantity to 1000?! Currently it is numbers to 100. As a grade 3 math teacher, I can tell you that place value is FOUNDATIONAL to future understanding. Students need time to make meaning of numbers #ableg
Is it Monday yet? Can’t wait to connect with our class through our morning messages. Morning meetings can still happen - #justabitdifferent Relationships first!
Continuing to repeat this talking point is insulting to all Albertans. The data does not lie. Almost all school boards received less funding to serve more students. Parents, teachers and students are going to fight hard to protect our amazing PUBLIC system. @AdrianaLaGrange
In 6H we go big for Science! We made a wall sized camera obscura (pinhole camera) to demonstrate reflection of light and a safe way to view a solar eclipse. Check out our cool upside down picture of the class outside!
6H students are exploring stop motion animation in art class. It is beautiful to watch the care, pride, and dedication of these students, some of whom are showing up 45min before school to work on their projects.
Minister @AdrianaLaGrange Albertans have already had ample opportunity to be involved in the curriculum re-write. When there are millions of dollars of cuts to education, why are we wasting more money? I want these dollars in the classroom for my students. #ableg
@WildRoseEle students exploring the new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Lab! Creative problem solving and design in action through challenge.
Mr. H’s class treasure box was purloined over the weekend. A group of suspects and ink samples were compared to the ransom note, and using chromatography the box was recovered. @SRudakoff claimed she was framed. 🙄
A beautiful (if chilly) day at the Grey Nuns White Spruce Forest with @cdnforestgirl learning about plant identification, local history, and forest management issues.
@WildRoseEle Recreation students putting in some work @CFEdmonton today! Thanks Coach Jason and Coach Suzanne for showing us that hard work can be fun!
