Hornets close out their 82-game campaign for ‘15-‘16 with a win over the Magic in Charlotte, 117-103
Hornets get 84 points out of their bench:
Kemba only scored 2 points and played 17 minutes… Jeremy Lin was the only Charlotte starter to play more than 17 minutes (20).
Al Jefferson leads the entire contest in scoring off the bench, as well — in 23 MP, Jefferson had 26 points, 4 REB, 2 AST, and a BLK. Al was 11/15 from the floor, and 4/6 from the stripe.
The 3rd-best No. 30 in Hornets History, Troy Daniels, was Charlotte second-leading scorer with 13.
Charlotte was up by 16 as early as the 2nd quarter, and the Hornets played all 13 of the guys they had available in this one to prep for the playoffs.
The end of this game brought a unique spot in Hornets History to Marvin Williams: Williams became the first ever Hornet to finish a year with 500+ rebounds, as well as 150+ made three’s in one year.
Williams was one of just 5 players in the entire NBA to accomplish that this year. Company that included Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, and Paul George.
Random fact: 4/13 is the first date that I’ve found since I began this in December, where not a single Hornets team from 1988-2002 played a game on the day’s date. Not a loss — no games whatsoever.
Charlotte played its first ever game on 4/13 in 2005, during the Bobcats first year in existence; they beat the Hawks 105-84.
