@adamrshields Good review! (Possible spoiler below)
I mostly agree. I didn't know until the last page this is the first of a diptych. Were it the whole enchilada I'd agree that the twist didn't work. But as a setup for Arcady, I kinda like it. (Strong Magician's Nephew vibes in there, too.)
World magazine (@WNGdotorg) on Minneapolis: "Don't be racist" is a "twisted interpretation" of Scripture. Race-based "pattern recognition" is a form of discernment. After all, the Apostle Paul called people from Crete "evil beasts."

@CatherineMcNiel The plugin "Control Panel for Twitter" is pretty great at fighting algorithmic evils. (It basically turns X back into Twitter—except of course it doesn't bring back all the people who've left as this site prioritized hatreds.)
Dear @mark__robbie had a gift for me in church today.
The crossover between former 90s evangelical culture kids and birders is niche, but it’s a good niche.
Don’t just read about history—engage with it!
This #BlackHistoryMonth, we honor the voices of faithful abolitionists who fought for justice in the nineteenth century. 📚
'Awakening to Justice' invites you to explore the stories of David Ingraham, James Bradley, and Nancy Prince—voices that still resonate with wisdom and urgency for Christians today.
This collaborative book intertwines history, faith, and hope to inspire action in today’s work for racial justice. It’s a testament to the church’s potential to challenge systems of inequality and embody true unity.

Have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?
Those false teachers are so eager to win your favor, but their intentions are not good. They are trying to shut you off from me so that you will pay attention only to them.
Galatians 4:16-17
When God sent the plagues on Egypt, his people felt that impact too. Just a reminder that the church can experience the impact of God’s judgment on the world (per Revelation). But we have the Passover Lamb who will take care of us in famine, drought, & darkness & His promises.
My latest on what appears to be the administration's first ICE arrest at a church. The detainee is in country with permission, has a work permit and a court date to consider his family for asylum. He has no criminal record—he was helping start a church. https://t.co/cFPKBa2hlA
J. I. Packer's "Knowing God" is an @ivpress classic. Today IVP is releasing @RonniKurtz's "Light Unapproachable," a book on the limits of that knowing. It's invigorating. Get your dose of theological awe, folks.
