HOW ROSULLULLAH STOPPED SEYYIDNAH ALI FROM MARRYING SECOND WIFE.

One day when Ali (the 4th Khalifa of Islam, may Allah honors his forehead) wanted to marry another wife, as we all know Ali was married to the daughter of Rosullullah which is Seyyidah Fatimah (R.A) and since it’s permissible for muslim men to marry more than a wife, Ali wanted to take another wife.

Then, Abu Jahl (one of the top unbelievers of Arab and enemy of Islam) wanted to give his daughter to Seyyidnah Ali and ofcos Ali was ready to take her because there is a Quran verse that permitted Muslim men to marry non muslim women. Then Fatimah heard about it and went to meet her father—Rosullullah (S.A.W) to informed him about Ali’s plan.

Rosullullah called Ali and said to him “I cannot forbid what Allah has made lawful (I cannot stopped you from practicing polygamy) but Fatimah is part of me and whatever hurts her definitely hurts me, I heard you want to take another wife and she’s the daughter of Abu Jahl, I swear to you that my daughter cannot be a co-wife with the daughter of enemy of Allah which means if you must marry daughter of Abu Jahl, you must give my daughter to me”.

That’s how Ali denied himself of taking another wife and remained husband to Fatimah alone till both of them died.

Do you know the funny thing about this, it’s the fact that nothing is wrong with Ali marrying Fatimah and the daughter of Abu Jhal together, but Rosullullah just didn’t want his daughter to share husband with anyone, because he knows how difficult it can be on his daughter and how she’ll struggle with it emotionally.

Fatimah on the other side was unarguably one of the top women of her time, her faith was so strong and firm for every problem she faced but when it comes to her husband wanting to take another wife, she became weak and cried to her father 😂

That’s for us to know that it’s not easy for any woman in polygamy. We pray that Allah keep strengthening our mothers and sisters in polygamy and reward them with paradise, Amin. May Allah be pleased with Ali and Fatimah and reunite us with them in paradise.
