i bet personal mobility is not in the policy makers’ minds, nor as a priority in Cabinet meeting agenda - it has been a “no man land” or “NIMBY” among “Kementerian” atau “Kerajaan Negeri / Tempatan”
Excellent article.
I support most of what is written here and the author captures the vicious nexus related to personal mobility, safety, economic needs and public infrastructure.

This move from DAP has upset not only Marina, but supporters in Skudai and Johor (based on the sentiments from many Skudai and Johorean relatives and friends.)
Teo expressed regret over Marina's retirement and apologised if the offer to contest a new seat had upset her.
Earlier, Marina hinted that internal party issues had contributed to her move not to defend the Skudai seat.

although the news is encouraging, 2031 is 5 years later. That is a long time.
A progressive plan to address the current issues with the Kelana LRT line will be more palatable
A total of 26 new trains for the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line are expected to begin operating in 2031 in an effort to increase capacity and operational efficiency as well as reduce service disruptions to users.
LRT Rapid Rail chief operating officer, Nor Azmi Mohd Yusof said the process of replacing existing trains had begun with the first train scheduled to arrive in 2029 before the entire replacement is targeted to be completed by the end of 2030.
He said the implementation of the project was a long-term measure to ensure a more stable, safe and resilient public transport system in the future.

coming from Highway Authority - of course lah build more highways
But, the solution should be from the whole of government, ie all the ministries, agencies, and local authorities to address the congestion problem. The problem is beyond the roads and cars.
Elevated highways and smart traffic technology are being prioritised to address worsening congestion in urban areas, says the Malaysian Highway Authority.
"Last year, we registered about 600,000 new vehicles. Where will these vehicles go if we do not build new highways?" it told Bernama.

the decision to allow malls to be built lies with?
developers will also lobby those in power…
unless there is a statutory mandate, the problem of over building will remain
"We do not need more malls. We need smarter planning, stronger town centres and a commitment to reuse the spaces that are already available." — Hema Sulakshana Mahadevan.

just few weeks ago, positive headline numbers made Malaysians feel good.
This latest soap opera just instantly erased all the feel good vibes.
wrong move lah
The government underestimated how many bridges it would burn today.
People are genuinely upset.
People who attended their campaign ceramahs, people who protested alongside them, people who hung flags for them, people who encouraged friends and family to go out and vote.
my theory:
Many people go to wet market to collect their orders for CNY
Many parents now drive their kids to schools instead of using school bus/ public transport
what else…
