“Why are so many people in the country upset about commercial wind and solar?”

It’s because of energy density. It’s because of the sheer size of these industrial complexes that have been sneakily allowed onto zoned agricultural land.

Solar is the least dense form of alternative energy. That means it needs more acreage per MW generated than any other form of energy.

A quick comparison:

- Solar requires 8-10 acres PER MW generated. That’s 800 acres for a 100MW facility (not including the access roads and chainlink fencing).
- Nuclear requires 0.5 acres per MW generated. That’s 500 acres for a 1,000MW facility.

Just look at Alle-Catt Wind in Western NY. The facility size is 30,000 acres. For comparison… the city of Albany is 13,000 acres. This wind complex is almost 3x the size of ALBANY!

Are you able to conceive how large that is?

Are you able to understand what fencing off 700 acres at a time with chainlink industrial fencing does to wildlife?

Are you able to understand what 30,000 acres of wind turbines does to viewsheds across entire counties? What the sound from a facility this large does to the residents and animals nearby?

If solar and wind didn’t require 5-15 acres per MW, you wouldn’t be witnessing a panicked outcry from rural residents countrywide. They are trying to tell you we are losing the land that feeds and sustains us so violently, and so quickly, that everyone needs to pay attention to this YESTERDAY.

@annmaria @alex_fasulo They lease the land to these people for around $2,000/acre. Farmers are broke and struggling. Some farmers have no one to pass the farm down to, so they move to solar and make lots of money at the cost of destroying the land.

Here's the reality of a solar complex out in Byron, New York, where topsoil has been stripped, bulldozed, and piled across the street from solar arrays that are sitting in standing water.

Drainage retention ponds have been dug to spoil the natural drainage of the fields. Looks like they're doing a really great job of keeping that water drained!

That's what happens when you remove a land's topsoil and compact the ground below it. It's also what happens when you remove natural grasses and native plants that have 6 to 15 foot long root systems. Everything floods.

It takes 600 to 1,000 years for 6 inches of topsoil to form. These commercial solar builders strip the land of that topsoil and dump it in a pile, pictured below. They don't "spread out the soil" or reuse it elsewhere. Anywhere you've read that is utopian propaganda that does not exist at a single ORES solar complex in Upstate New York.

This is what these industrial zones look like instead. All for pathetic amounts of power that are unreliable, intermittent, and inaccessible when we need it most during the winter.

Your electric bill hasn't gone down. In fact, it's going to keep going up. The state needs billions of dollars to court these foreign developers with subsidies, credits, contracts, and promises.

This is the biggest scam ever peddled on the American public.

This land will never be farmed again.

The New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS) is actively investing in the very foreign solar and wind corporations that lobby ORES (Office of Renewable Energy Siting) to issue them a final siting permit.

Many New Yorkers are probably unaware if they are part of the public state system, their retirements are actively investing in NextEra Energy, Brookfield Renewable, AES, Repsol, and Avangrid (foreign or foreign-led boards).

This creates a major conflict of interest that places pressure on ORES and the DPS to issue final siting permits as part of the other financial obligations the state quietly agreed to without making state workers aware.

That's one of the reasons why ORES issues these permits 100% of the time.

By having the NY pension fund buy stock in a company such as Brookfield Renewable, it provides demand for that stock. Higher investor demand supports the company's valuation and makes raising capital easier.

Brookfield Renewable is a multinational corporation out of Canada that recently acquired Boralex, another Canadian renewable corporation that is behind Fort Edward Solar. New York State and the politicians running our state are selling out our natural resources, farmland, grasslands, and water to foreign corporations while helping to boost the value of their stock.

How is this not a national security issue?

If you work for New York State, were you aware your retirement is invested in foreign renewable corporations?

Looking at just one example above, NextEra Energy, you can publicly see this in the New York State Common Retirement Fund:

-Shares: 98,010,811
-Fair Value: $208.1 million

In addition, the fund held over $122 million of bonds issued by NextEra Energy Capital Holdings.

Do you get it yet? The "green" in green energy is MONEY.
