Gen Z grew up with catchable monsters, talking sea creatures, a plumber that went to space, kids that could transform into aliens and dragons, and Minecraft.
Do you have any idea how comically evil a society has to be to make them largely anxious, unemployed, and depressed?
A turtle came into Wild At Heart Rescue in Mississippi last week painted from head to toe in silver and red. People keep doing this and it has to stop.
A turtle's shell is living tissue full of blood vessels that absorbs sunlight to produce vitamin D, helps the turtle regulate body temperature, and in many aquatic species participates in the animal's breathing system.
When a turtle is painted, all of that gets blocked. The turtle is no longer able to synthesize vitamin D where it's been painted and can develop metabolic bone disease as a result. (soft bones, deformed shell, slow death).
The painted shell loses its camouflage too, making the turtle visible to every hawk and raccoon in the area.
Removing the paint isn't a quick wash with a sponge. It involves multiple veterinary sessions, often with sedation, and many turtles arrive too damaged to ever recover.
If you see a turtle with paint on its shell, do not try to clean it yourself. Call a licensed wildlife rehabilitator right away.
Before pride month starts im just gonna say this:
-men’s mental health month is in November
-straight pride isn’t a thing. Nobody has ever been oppressed or killed for being straight
-veterans get 2 months. May and November
So do some research before complaining :)
Working on an updated modding and creation vision for Hytale that we will release sometime after Update 5 is live and stable.
It will be 2 main sections: Modding Ecosystem (Distribution and Incentives) and Mod Creation (Learning and Capabilities)
There have been quite some changes to the vision since I posted the first iteration shortly after we got Hytale back and now that the game is out and we received feedback, I want to make sure we are incorporating all the things that we learned and call put where we changed our direction.
Where I can, I will give estimations about when we can expect these things to be shipped or explain why we can't say yet. The goal is to lay out an understandable roadmap.
Anyway now that you clicked on read more and you made it to the end: Noesis custom UI in Update 6.
More and more of our focus is now going into making new gameplay content for Hytale. Very exciting times ahead!
There's still a lot of groundwork to push through, but we're moving fast. The updates we've shipped so far have mostly been about getting the foundation in shape so we can actually build content on top of it without falling into a tech debt trap.
As a quick reminder, we had only a few weeks between acquiring Hytale and shipping it. In that window, we had to build a new launcher / website / many backend services, plus a lot of engine and gameplay catch-up, on a codebase that was already a few years out of date in many areas. We promised to deliver as fast as possible, and we did, but that meant the early post-launch updates had to be catch-up work rather than huge content drops. The next step is to put ourselves in a position to roll out content updates for the chapters at a rapid cadence.
As an example, some of the team have been on accessibility / controller support / localization, and so on. That kind of work easily takes a few weeks per area, and those devs are now moving to gameplay. Same story with the movement rewrite: that was needed to properly set up future things like mounts / boats / anti-cheat, and plenty more. Most of this is invisible to players day to day, but it's much better to land early than to retrofit later.
I know a lot of what you're seeing right now is creative tools, modding, and so on. Note that we use those tools ourselves too, so every step forward there improves our workflow as well.
Part of the team is also deep in Chapter 1 right now. That first chapter is going to take some time because so many of the pieces around it are still being put in place, but once we hit the rhythm of chapters, the cadence will start picking up fast. That's the part I'm most looking forward to. The goal is that by the time we reach Chapter 3 we'll be at a really good pace.
We're hiring across many areas to support this content push, as you might have seen. Lots to do, but this is the stretch I've been waiting for!
We have the funds, the team, and the community. All we need now is some time to cook!
Server Discovery is coming to Hytale.
An in-game browser for community servers, launching with update 5. Server operator listing tools are open today so servers can get verified, reviewed, and ready for players in the upcoming update.

Friends List and Rich Presence are live on pre-release! Easier to play with friends, and this is just the first wave. More social features are on the way, and we'll share details in the coming weeks!

Next up for Hytale: friend lists and server discovery!
Friend lists are coming to pre-release this week: you'll be able to see when your friends are online, jump into their world, invite them, or join the server they're playing on.
A few days later, we'll open applications for servers to be listed in a new in-game server browser. It's been about 3 months, and some great community servers have already come together nicely! FYI, we've been working on the server's performance and will keep at it, but now feels like the right time to start letting players find these servers in-game! A blog post is coming that will lay out how server discovery will work going forward.
Note that update 5 isn't a big gameplay content drop, but there's a lot happening under the hood. We're deep in engine work, performance, overhauling crafting and progression, and part of the team is also working on our first major content update, Chapter 1. And there's a lot of cool stuff we're working on beyond these updates. We'll share more in the coming weeks!
As a sidenote, the team is growing, and we will be hiring a lot in the coming months! We have a lot of work to do for years to come. BTW, the next wave of hires is going to heavily focus on adventure content: World Gen / NPC / Dungeons, and so on. Lots to do before the game leaves early access!

Update 5 (Part 3)
Enable via Launcher → Settings → Pre-Release
This is a smaller one while the team works on bigger things in parallel. Chapter 1 groundwork and some major overhauls to the game are coming, and I'll put together a blog post in the coming weeks to explain some of it!
We'll also be hiring a lot as summer approaches, so keep an eye out if you're interested!
