The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors should not have to beg for what has already been agreed upon. The Federal Government signed a deal on the Professional Allowance Table, and now it wants to abandon it. This is not governance; it is betrayal.
Our resident doctors are the last line of defence in hospitals that are already collapsing. They work gruelling hours, in impossible conditions, for pay that insults their sacrifice. And now, the government seeks to take away the little that was promised? The Tinubu administration must demonstrate commitment to the issues: 19 months of unpaid Professional Allowance arrears; promotion arrears gathering dust; a Medical Residency Training Fund stuck in bureaucratic limbo; and a government that treats its doctors as an afterthought and remains unconcerned as they flee the country in droves.
Every doctor Nigeria loses to the UK, Canada, or Saudi Arabia is a failure of leadership, not a failure of patriotism. You cannot ask people to serve a nation that refuses to honour its own word.
I stand with NARD. Pay what you owe. Honour what you signed. Or explain to 200 million Nigerians why their hospitals will go dark on Tuesday. -AA
📚 The woman who founded the world’s first university
Her name was Fatima al-Fihri — a Muslim woman who transformed the history of education.
In 859 CE, after inheriting her father’s wealth, she used it to establish a center of learning in Fez, Morocco. That institution later became the University of al-Qarawiyyin — widely recognized as the oldest continuously operating university in the world.
Long before modern universities emerged, students there were studying mathematics, astronomy, medicine, languages, and philosophy.
She personally oversaw the construction and devoted her entire wealth to a legacy of knowledge that continues more than a thousand years later.
One woman’s vision.
A millennium of impact.
American: Iran is Evil
Me: What did they do?
American: They are part of the axis of evil.
Me: Ok, but what did Iran do? Is Iran a threat to America?
American: Not really, but Iran is seen as a threat.
Me: A threat to what, to who?
has Iran attacked any country in the last 300 years? Iranians are not known as aggressors, so how are they evil?
American: But they support Hamas and Hezbollah.
Me: Oh, you mean, they support the Palestinians right to statehood and they oppose Israel's occupation of Lebanon?
American: Yes.
Me: So, It is Israel that see's Iran as a threat not America?
American: Well, yes.
But America has a right to defend Israel.
Me: Oh, but the Palestinians and the people of Lebanon don't have a right to defend themselves?
American: Iran sponsors terrorism.
Me: Resistance to apartheid is terrorism? Well, Nelson Mandela and other ANC leaders were declared as terrorists by the U.S until 2008, no surprised here.
So, terrorism is when the Palestinians defend themselves?
American: stutters...Israel has a right to exist
Me: Just like the Palestinians.
American: Anyways, Iran is evil and the fall of Iran will bring peace and stability to the Middle East.
Me: You still haven't said what makes Iran evil.
American: Iran kills protesters!
Me: Ok, lets say that's true, so it means you are against the killings of people?
American: Yes.
Me: So, you are against the genocide taking place in Gaza?
American: No. Israel has a right to exist and the whole of Palestine was promised to the Jews. Isreal is protecting itself while also fulfilling prophecy.
Dear Gov @ubasanius , @GovKaduna
The healthcare crisis at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital is the reason why doctors are leaving the state and the country. This should not be happening in 2025!
3 house officers can't do the job planned for 96 approved doctors.
Intimidating the doctors by sacking them on day 2 of strike action is counter-productive to patient care.
@KDSGMinistryHealth have been paying CONMESS 2014 salaries, instead of the 2024 creating a disparity of over N300,000 loss compared with doctors working in other states.
What the @ARD_Kaduna is asking for is not too much to implement.
We call on the @KDSGMinistryHealth to stop victimising doctors who are exercising their fundamental human rights and come to the table to profer solutions.
