It was a pleasure to discuss the critical need for investments in health research and describe the outstanding ecosystem in London for musculoskeletal research impacting patient care across @LHSCCanada, @stjosephslondon, and @westernuBJI.
Congratulations to our COA Member of the Month!
Director of the Western Bone and Joint Institute and Associate Professor at Western University, Dr. Matthew Teeter advances imaging and digital technologies to improve mobility and quality of life after joint replacement. His research integrates CT-RSA, weight-bearing CT, PET/CT, and radiomics to assess implant fixation, bone quality, and inflammation—bridging engineering and clinical practice to guide surgical decision-making and implant innovation.
His leadership and contributions have been recognized nationally and internationally with distinctions such as the CIHR New Investigator Award, the Coventry Award from The Knee Society, and the Neer Award from the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons. A Past President of both the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society (CORS) and the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty (ISTA), he continues to shape the field as a member of the COA, The Knee Society and the Canadian Arthroplasty Society (CAS).
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your outstanding impact on orthopaedic innovation.
New study from LHSCRI and @SchulichMedDent could increase access and enhance care for patients requiring knee replacement surgery: https://t.co/nuIWkClRJr
The Knee Society grows stronger with every new member! We are proud to introduce our newest class of visionaries. 🚀 Together, we continue to push boundaries, innovate, and lead the way. Congratulations!

Excited to share that Rebecca's paper describing RSA inducible displacement measurements with weight-bearing CT (WBCT) is now online! WBCT is going to be a valuable tool in orthopaedics, and WBCT-RSA is a new and better way to diagnose loose implants.

Congratulations @DaleyMaths! Your recent session on AI for health researchers challenged me to re-think the future and work smarter. It is wonderful how accessible you are for help on these topics and now all @NSERC_CRSNG researchers will similarly benefit.
Our agency @NSERC_CRSNG is delighted to welcome Mark Daley from @WesternU as our third scholar in residence. His expertise in artificial intelligence will help us navigate the dynamic evolution in an area that affects all of science and engineering.
🎉We are thrilled to celebrate Dr. @joymacdermid 's achievement in receiving the Order of Ontario!🏅Her contributions to health and rehabilitation inspire us all. Join us in congratulating Dr. @joymacdermid on this well-deserved honor!👏 @westernuSPT @VPRWesternU @westernuFHS

I was grateful for the opportunity to speak with @RetaIsmailCTV at the @LHSCRI Launch this morning, and enjoyed speaking with so many visitors to the lab this afternoon at UH. Always happy to share our work with #ldnont!
Excited to share that Jen’s paper comparing CT-RSA to conventional RSA for inducible displacement measures of femoral stems is now online. A great collaboration with Bart Kaptein in Leiden. We will be using this in many studies now.

Component-on-component impingement in total hip arthroplasty may lead to post-operative complications like dislocation. This study validated a novel radiostereometric analysis-based impingement metric to measure component-on-component impingement in vivo.

Thanks to @LHSFCanada donors, we are proud to be the first hospital in Canada, and one of only half a dozen institutions in the world, to have four major orthopaedic robots on site.

Really pleased to have this paper in print, showing [18F]FEPPA can track synovial macrophage activity in PET/MRI. Great collaboration with @jdthiessen & @appletonlab leveraging the valuable imaging resources we have in the city.

Kevin O'Leary highlighting the advances in rapid recovery and surgical robotics that are enhancing the patient experience in total hip replacement.
While Mr. Wonderful had his operation in Toronto, LHSC has this robot + 3 more from other vendors. Lots of great work happening!
Great thread by Ravi highlighting cutting edge 7T MRI in MSK. So much opportunity for Western to leverage our existing strengths once there’s a full body 7T in CFMM. Can even pair with 4DCT next door in CenTRI and really study joints in full. We have teams ready to jump on this!
