“Leadership is not a license to do less. It’s a responsibility to do more.”
Had a moment recently where we found ourselves without a thumbnail designer.
Can’t really throw up our hands and say “oh well!” Clients still need their videos to go out on time.
So I dusted off my old designer hat and got to work.
Am I the VP of the company? Yes.
Did I have other responsibilities that day? Absolutely.
I ended up cranking out multiple thumbnails and was reminded of something important:
There is tremendous value in developing competency across every part of your business.
You don’t need to be the best at everything.
You don’t need expert-level mastery in every discipline.
But you should understand how the pieces fit together and be capable of jumping in when circumstances demand it.
Because titles don’t exempt you from the work.
The best leaders are still willing to get their hands dirty when the moment calls for it.
Wait, I thought optimizing didn’t matter?
Will it be the difference between 1K views and 1M views? No.
But the insinuation that it doesn’t matter at all is simply bad advice.
@FueledByMotown This might actually end my avid fandom for Detroit sports. Like what’s the point in following these teams all year.
I think it be so much easier to be a casual fan than get invested in this never ending cycle.
So @YouTube added its own end-of-year recap.
It shows your top channels, viewing trends, and assigns you a “personality type” based on what you watch.
It’s worth a look. If you’ve checked yours already, what personality did you get?
@MarioJoos I'm seeing a similar trend as well on Short channels.
I'm also noticing some strange shifts in the recommendations of catalog long-form content.
Had multiple legacy channels see long-standing cornerstone videos plummet almost inexplicably within the last 2 months.
Strange.
@vidIQ I have multiple channels with data proving otherwise.
Shorts can absolutely be additive, but you have to be careful about how often you post them.
