I watched Messi’s debut for Barça. I’ve seen more than a thousand of his games. I’ve seen him win everything.
Yet I think this will be the game that defines him forever. It’s the perfect analogy for his entire career.
He never gives up.
Not as a kid who needed treatment to become a professional. Not after retiring from the national team in 2016. He came back, dragged Argentina to the World Cup with a hattrick in the final qualifier, then lost another World Cup in 2018. Then another Copa América in 2019. He just kept going until he won everything. We all know his story by now. It’s the most inspiring story in football.
Today he could barely run, but he kept going and turned the game around through sheer determination. Yes, he’s the most talented football player ever, but he’s also a fighter who refuses to give up.
To play at this level at the age of 39 is absurd. It doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t feel real. Yet here he is, still inspiring all of us to never give up and keep fighting for our dreams.
Esto es mentalidad de élite.
No salir a decir que si todos tus compañeros estuvieran en tu nivel, ganarían todo.
No salir a menospreciar los logros de los demás.
No salir a autoproclamarte el mejor jugador de la historia.
Esto.
