When the full game is out I want to see a hypercut video where every time Kratos & Atreus mourn for Laufey it then says "meanwhile" and cuts to her air juggling 5 demons to heavy metal music.
@BobicraftMC@kmb42600@harristic_ And this is part of why releasing info via CCs with zero fucking official press release to back it, was a bad idea.
Community misinterpreting CC comments now assuming they have insider knowledge.
Hope the blowback isn't harsh for this Bobi. Not your fault.
@SpatchCoqVT@Marmitex78 Overmarketed is the word that comes to mind for the drops. Not bad quality, just, a lot of pomp and circus surrounding them.
Maybe I'm just exhausted from being in a world of constant combat with advertiser's after my eyeballs.
@SpatchCoqVT@Marmitex78 They did so well communicating the initial 1.17/1.18 split with plain honesty to the community, and then fell into using corpo-speak for 1.19.x , felt like they climbed back to normal with 1.21, then fell again with the drops.
@jochen_roeder@NovaWostra The 1.17/1.18 split? The community was quite understanding (aside from a few vocal asshats). It was communicated well by Mojang.
It was the entirety of 1.19.x where they started giving odd marketinv-speak answers that soured community relations.
@CagilMartin@CraftyMasterman It was a stick without a carrot thrown in at the last minute.
I think it being introduced with other combat changes that offer new mechanics would be better received; like the breaking changes to Redstone dust behaviour and the target block addition in 1.16
@sekretboi@NovaWostra And 4. People don't think the high quality marketing matches what is delivered. That is the point of contention.
Now it's a matter of opinion of whether you agree on the marketing matching the product, and whether the effort expended on marketing feels appropriate.
@sekretboi@NovaWostra 1. Refering to the lava chicken and dog portrait drop, 1.21.7.
2. Put some fucking respect on Element Animations name, not just write them off as "a youtuber".
3. It's Brikk Animation who have done the update trailers. Nowhere did I refer to Element's sections they put in live.
@sekretboi@NovaWostra Oh there were people that complained. Always are. But it WAS an Indie studio, and they didn't strut out into the middle of town, and put on a huge song and dance for those updates... Now there are high effort CGI trailers made for each "drop"... Marketing pushes, movie tie-ins.
@awawawhoami@catgirlprostate Unfortunately this isn't something they could have put behind the experimental flags, which are locked to world's rather than the entire game. which is where I think it would have gone if they could have put it there. Which would be a clear indication of the current state of it.
@awawawhoami@catgirlprostate A way to test on a variety of hardware and OS...
Now whether that test is "we are reasonably certain this should work on all systems and are verifying that." Or "we want to see how this behaves in real world conditions and GATHER TEST DATA." Are two different primary objectives.
@awawawhoami@catgirlprostate Which have different expected outcomes. The first one has the expectation of minor adjustments and edge case fixes, with it remaining largely the same.
The second one is exploratory with the expectation the test data will be used to decide the next course of action.
