@stbessgirl Sooner or later, we will have to decide if we want to hang onto our fears of Covid19 or, allow children to get an education.
The former is preventing the latter.
@al_x876 The river shifting east and west over time built up and shaped the entire liguanea plain. Then we put roads and buildings on top. It looks different but the shape is still the same.
That's also why flash flooding was a regular occurrence in before they built the gully system.
Two places I never want to be in when it's raining heavy:
1) New Kingston (old river bed)
2) Downtown Kingston (the drain hole of the entire for Kingston & St. Andrew)

What is there to be upset about?
🚨The Government's defence of the NaRRA CEO's J$40 million salary rests on "international benchmarking." But benchmarking a salary from a wealthy country against a developing country's GDP per capita is not benchmarking. It's cherry-picking. And the math exposes the flaw.
@numbuhhh9@VillageTaker@BrayForJade Whatever we are now, it's better better than Cuba and Venezuela combined.

🇵🇦 Footage of the Centenario Bridge in Panama after a 7.7 earthquake, with traffic still moving across it.
And it was a powerful one. The quake struck roughly 200 km from Panama City, but the shaking was still felt in the capital.
Despite that, the Panama Canal and this major bridge appear to be intact so far.
A good reminder of how solid engineering can make all the difference when the ground starts shaking.
