Statement by President George W. Bush on Chuck Norris:
"Laura and I are saddened by Chuck Norris’s passing. He was a legend in Texas and beyond. Through his foundation and his example, he made a huge difference in the lives of young people by instilling character and discipline through martial arts. It was said that when Chuck Norris entered a room, he didn’t turn the lights on; he turned the dark off. Laura and I are fortunate to have called him a friend, and we send our sympathy to his family."
The CIA quietly tracked Supreme Leader Khamenei for months, mapping his movements with high confidence and building a detailed pattern of life.
Then came the break. Intelligence picked up a rare Saturday morning gathering of Iran’s top leadership at a central Tehran compound, with Khamenei confirmed in attendance. The window was real and it was tight.
The intelligence was passed to Israel. Plans shifted. Instead of a nighttime strike under cover of darkness, the U.S. and Israel recalibrated for a daylight hit to maximize the opportunity.
The compound was struck. Khamenei was killed alongside senior regime figures, including top security officials named in subsequent reporting - NYT

A photo of Comanche leader Quanah Parker that I have never seen before. I have written much about Quanah over the years but never this: Quanah was one of six Native American leaders invited to participate in Theodore Roosevelt’s 1905 inauguration parade. He was also a frequent traveler to the U.S. capital to advocate for the Comanche. Back home in Oklahoma, Quanah joined Roosevelt on a wolf hunt in April, 1905. During the hunt, Roosevelt dined with Parker at his home, the Star House, where they discussed Comanche land ownership and unemployment. Many scholars cite this visit as the impetus for the congressional appropriation that led to the repatriation of bison in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife preserve located north of Star House.
Yes, a benefit concert is in the works. More details coming soon. Grateful to everyone helping spread the word. Let’s keep showing up for Kerrville and the Hill Country.
