Even if the Trump administration backs down now or loses in court, it will take many years for the US unis to regain the trust of students around the world. These students see themselves as unwelcome by the govt and are unsure whether they will be able to finish their degrees.

Forced to return in tough times, these students may still find red carpets elsewhere.
Also, as domestic and international students work in tandem across unis, deporting/scaring them doesn’t just break their dreams but the very model that made America a global innovation leader.
