@entschwindet I can't imagine he will. I think Starmer is trying to avoid a grievance narrative on the far right, as the persistent line of 'thuggery' instead of racist political violence seems to indicate.
In May, disgraced anti-Corbynite John Woodcock, now Lord Walney, the Tory-appointed Political Violence Czar, published a report on political extremism and violence. It devotes 65 pages to the threat from the left (JSO, XR, BLM), and just 28 to the threat from the right. A sample:
The instinct of mainstream politicians & commentators is to ‘depoliticise’ far right & racist street politics - by calling it thuggery, explaining it as a kind of ‘mistake’ caused by disinformation etc. They don’t want to ‘dignify’ it by admitting it to the Court (1/x)
A reminder that the last Conservative Government published a review just last year claiming that there had been "too much focus" on tackling threats from the far-right.
And I'm sorry, but where's Keir Starmer? If it was Muslims rioting across the country, you bet there'd be a Downing Street press conference.
People of colour need to be visibly reassured that this country is safe for them.
A “powerful but careful message” that Israel can carry out meticulously planned assassinations in a hostile countries hundreds of miles away, avoiding any other “collateral damage,” but must kill 40,000 + Palestinians in Gaza and leave the entire territory unlivable.
@StephyRamone@hannahelias Pre 2016 there was a recruitment cap for all unis, after its removal RG unis hoovered up numbers from other, on paper less prestigious institutions. Result: poor experience for those at RG due to overcrowding, financial pressures at others.
not sure if there can be any graver charger of 'virtue signalling' than deliberately allowing children to remain in poverty, until such point it suits your ideological optics. it's sick
"The Sun and the Sunday Times backed Labour at this month’s general election after News UK received private assurances that a Starmer-led government would not pursue Leveson 2...." https://t.co/LFI32lvKrs
It is *staff* who have been trying to protect students from the worst outwashes of VCs' 'efficiencies' for years. We've been trying to ensure our spiralling workloads wouldn't affect students too much, we've been trying to get their voices heard when management suppressed them.
@alexeptable Yeah, totally agree. I think waves are the artist's signature thing, they appear in all her work. Which makes it all the more baffling to make the only suffragette reference a nude.
