this is an advanced stoned thought, but i think if my eyes were closed and kermit the frog walked into a room i'd be able to pick up on his energy and just know he was there.
@robsforman Thank you. It concerns me that guild leadership is out of touch with the struggles of LL/ML members, and while the gains of this deal are GREAT, they mean nothing if we can’t get the jobs in the first place. I’m very happy we have you in the room now — congrats!
@robsforman Hi, Rob! Thank you for this acknowledgment. The way questions were answered about this issue at the meeting was very disappointing — especially the implication that the ladder isn’t broken until you get to co-producer level.
@wgangelinab I want to believe this, but it has not been the experience for a lot of LLs (or MLs) the last couple years. We’ve heard they’re not reading for LLs/MLs over and over and over. The fear is valid, and the guild’s stance on the issue comes off, frankly, very out of touch 😬
I am proud of my union. I am proud of the negotiation committee and am grateful for their hard work. But the comment made last night that most writers “only spend a few years in the low levels anyway” was insultingly out of touch.
@stevendeknight I know you’re right in that it’s a huge gain that can be expanded on in future negotiations, but as an LL who has struggled to even get read the last few years, I’m disappointed. The idea of going back to what things were like pre-strike is a big blow. I hope I’m wrong.
@realchipriggs A woman filed a hit and run report on me, claiming I rear-ended her & fled the scene on that interchange. She of course had enough time to get my plates and description — probably bc I was stuck behind her in standstill traffic for 30 mins on a ramp that’s impossible to “flee” 😒
