#TBT to when I was put on trial in 1633 for speaking the TRUTH about the relationship between Earth and the sun. I’d been accused of heresy by the ever corrupt Catholic Church and was sentenced to house arrest. A waste of my talent!

Figuring out how the pendulum works actually took a long time. I became intrigued by it in 1581 while I was at university, but it wasn’t until 1602 that I figured out the time in which a pendulum swings back and forth doesn’t depend on the arc of the swing!
