@xcx_machina@No_Toilets What more data are they waiting on? I think the real issue is that it has to be special ordered for most, and that it’s ridiculously expensive.
@shytwunk@vanillaopinions Semantics. I don’t live in, nor claiming to be from NY. Still, I am aware of the production practices of the thing from association. 🤷🏻♂️
@jakethots@lvbs@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia I side with reason and nuance. Virtue signaling can be such a deceptive thing that clocks sketchy behavior under the guise of good. So take from that what you will. I will say, I think certain laws are important to uphold in the context of ownership especially for good cause.
@Paddington_Boar@petermarietoto They aren’t trying to claim the name, they’re claiming (rightfully so) their copyright. Patagonia isn’t inherently copyrighted, and they don’t go after people that use the name in whatever variation…but this is a trademark and logo similarity issue.
@dadssecretacct Your, I’m actually legitimately country point aside, what was your dad’s reasoning for making you do all that at age 7?! Like, had you given him a hard time about not bottle feeding it…why didn’t he just deal with the consequences of his actions on his own?
@yegui5000@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia …Pattie Gonia was careless and didn’t curate her branding accordingly. To spin those legal facts into: “…they won’t let her organize hikes! Or do motivational speeches!” Pearl clutching is the real 🤡 move here.
@yegui5000@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia Prime example of being misled by the virtue signaling happening with this narrative. They filed the suit because of a breach of an agreement in 2022, where they explicitly agreed she wouldn’t sell merch with a logo that looked similar to theirs…
@yegui5000@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia She then went ahead and broke that agreement, and on top of that filed a federal trademark for her branding and name, so Patagonia came along and sued. Simple as that. Trixie Mattel does all sorts of promotions, merch, etc but never trademarks on the Mattel portion of her name.
@lvbs@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia They aren't suing for the use of similarity to their name. They are suing because Pattie tried to trademark herself, which includes a logo very similar to that of Patagonia. WILD that people can't seem to be understanding that.
@welovemorgann@urmkpisterrible@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia They have every right to fight this legally, and for Pattie to basically pull political/emotional manipulation for being caught in a valid trademark violation is actually the truly tacky thing here. She really just needed to amend her marketing is all.
@welovemorgann@urmkpisterrible@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia If they were coming at it with some anti-LGBTQ+ cause then fine. As it stands, the change in narrative to somehow make it seem like an injustice(with the highligh of the origins of the name, and deals with a progressive drag queen, etc)seems like the much more disingenuous move here
@urmkpisterrible@welovemorgann@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia It isn’t about that though. Imagine you hade a valid trademark for a certain design, etc and somebody (no matter how well intentioned) came alone and tried to profit off a similarity…would you not stand up for your trademark?
@welovemorgann@morganmcmichael@pattiegonia@patagonia This is what I’m talking about, you’re misguided. They both, technically, do good but as soon as Pattie Gonia tried to trademark the likeness of her property (which IS similar) then that’s when Patagonia came knocking. It’s actually a valid thing.
@diandrasdiandra Because it’s a constant power play based in incredible insecurity. It’s like him suddenly caring about having a child when he finds out about Ruben’s infertility. Or, everything Ruben does too. Do people not understand nuance?
@thesoundoffox@Alchemist1330 I think what you should really be doing, to take your own advice, is…carry out a conversation. If for whatever nonsensical reason you’re offended by the Latino label, then simply ask about whatever else to break that supposed stereotype you think the label infers. 🤷🏻♂️
@thesoundoffox Perpetuates a stereotype of what? It’s such a non offensive term. Literally just means from or in heritage of Latin America. We aren’t a monolith, but to frame it as stereotyping of some kind ironically, reads as the actually problematic thing. It implies shame in the indentity.
This second season of The Four Seasons is…terrible! Everyone is so unlikable. Listen, I know I’m not the target demographic, but the first season had the occasional charm. Is this what straight mundane married people are really like?! 😉
