He approached the man standing next to Tyla, completely ignoring her and speaking about her as if she were invisible. Worst of all, he didn't even greet her. That is exactly the type of treatment a man with no manners brings on himself!
This happens to people walking, too. A driver will pull up, block the crossing, a person walks in front to be seen, and driver plows into them.
Rule of thumb: assume the worst of drivers to avoid injury.
