A company name can be available for registration and still create legal problems.
On 22 May 2025, the Federal High Court, Abuja, delivered judgment in a dispute between the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and eNaira Payment Solutions Limited over the use of the name "eNaira."
The company, which had been incorporated years earlier, challenged the CBN's use of the name for Nigeria's digital currency. However, the Court held that the company's use of "eNaira" suggested government affiliation and was likely to mislead the public. Consequently, the Court ordered the company to discontinue the use of the name.
The decision reflects the principle underpinning Section 852 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, which restricts the registration and use of names that are deceptive, misleading, or suggest government patronage, approval, or connection without the requisite consent.
For founders and businesses, the lesson is clear: before investing in a brand, look beyond availability searches and consider the broader legal and regulatory implications of the name.
Due diligence today. Peace of mind tomorrow.

I will always advise that you get what you can afford. Also, prioritize doing stuff in batches e.g. accommodation, wig and gown buying, photoshoots, transportation, etc, it would help reduce cost.
@chudy_jnr Forget movies. In Nigeria, when a Judge or Magistrate says Bail is granted in the sum of ₦5 million with two sureties in like sum, you almost never pay ₦5 million cash to the court upfront.
What happens is a Recognizance. Your sureties sign a legal document promising the court;
@OGWUDE2@chudy_jnr Of course, Mr Bright. In civil law, this is pursued through a tort action known as a lawsuit for Malicious Prosecution.
However, to win such case, you must prove four elements;
1. The Defendant Initiated the Prosecution
2.The Criminal Case Ended in Your Favor (your innocence)
Caretaker(Lawyer) locking Tenants outside for days/weeks because of rent, without proper notice or a court order. A whole lawyer doing this and bragging that nobody can do anything.
Don’t play with your externship.
Avoid the temptation to keep re-reading the same topic repeatedly. Read it, understand it, revise briefly if necessary, and move forward.
I remember being trapped in that cycle — reading the same weeks over and over again, yet still forgetting them. Everything changed when I made a deliberate decision not to remain on topics I had already covered.
The nature of externship is intense and broad. Time moves quickly, and the syllabus is usually too wide to waste weeks trying to perfect one area while neglecting others.
Attached is a PDF of this File. After you read a topic, Tick it with a Red pen. At the end of the Externship, the number of your red pens, determines your readiness.
Consistency pays, don’t let anybody lie to you.
