"The preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government, are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people."
- George Washington
The Memorandum of Understanding between the US & Iran stands alone as one of the most catastrophic diplomatic surrenders in modern American history.
The American government has sacrificed everything, including:
All US strikes on Iran.
All US interference in Iranian internal affairs.
All US troop presence surrounding Iran.
All US sanctions on Iranian oil and petrochemicals.
And the unfreezing of approximately one-quarter of Iran's assets. Billions of dollars that will now flow directly into the coffers of the world's leading state sponsor of terror.
In return, America received a 60-day negotiation window.
The deal does NOT appear to address Iran's ballistic missile program, nor its support for terrorist proxies including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis, nor Iran's regional aggression, its human rights abuses, or its assassination campaigns against dissidents abroad.
Vice President JD Vance led the so-called "Peace Team", shaping the Memorandum and leading the American delegation in Pakistan. What exactly did Vance achieve that could not have been achieved by continuing the military campaign? Iran was on its heels. Operation Midnight Hammer had destroyed three nuclear facilities. Its oil exports were crippled, its proxies were on the verge of shuttering, and Vance decided the time had come to negotiate.
When the war began, we were told the objectives were clear: annihilate Iran's military capacity, nuclear ambitions, and theocracy. Trump has since desperately redefined regime change for the sake of political convenience.
Make no mistake, Iran WILL use the 60-day window as a strategic trap to strengthen its military, hide its nuclear program, rebuild its oil exports, replenish its proxies and drive a wedge between the US and its allies. Every single time Iran has made a deal, they have lied and cheat. Iran already possesses roughly 440 kg of uranium enriched to 60% purity (enough, if enriched further, for nine nuclear weapons, according to the IAEA).
Iran is an existential threat to American civilization and to the Western world. The regime murdered 241 Americans in the Marine barracks bombings, 19 in the Khobar Towers bombing, and 17 in the UUS Cole attack. Iranian operatives have attempted to kill American officials on American soil, and plotted to kidnap American journalists. The regime has funded terrorism for decades. Hezbollah, Hamas, PIJ, the Houthis, all receive Iranian weapons, training, and funding.
REAL peace does NOT mean the absence of conflict. It means the presence of justice. And this deal delivers neither. The United States military should have continued until Iran's nuclear program was destroyed beyond repair, until its ballistic missile program was dismantled, until the regime was on its knees.
The Iranian people do not deserve a handshake with their oppressors.
The MoU is merely a paper with no binding force under American law. It can be revoked. It should be revoked. The next administration should rip it up on Day One.
Neither the American people, nor the Iranian people should forget this betrayal. We MUST hold every architect of this deal accountable. We MUST fight for an America that does not negotiate with terrorists, that does not surrender victory for political convenience, and that does not abandon the Iranian people to their oppressors.
All that it takes for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing.
