Like watching youtubers and streamers react to content and use volume as a substitute for emotion. That's the performance.

Realism is often just saying the line but doesn't bring much to set up the viewer's emotion.

It might literally just be their workflow to have actors just voice act and motion capture at the time time.

This isn't even the goofiest thing I've seen with motion capture.
