@mossgatherer_ Dogs have both an amazing sense of smell and more sensitive hearing than many humans and some are even able to sense when a human is ill, or about to have a seizure, which is why they make wonderful guide, or support dogs.
@VischLa Both are lovely, but I like how the one on the lower right flows and branches off, also are they both knitted on the same size needles, or is the tension a little tighter on the right?
@StolenStitches I soak finished shawls in eucelan and pin them out, but I just lay anything made using garter stitch, or rib flat on my blocking board without stretching anything too much. I finished a sweater today and steam blocked the pieces lightly before sewing them up.
@ktb38 The shawl is gorgeousπ, such an intricate design and you and your team did so well, especially as it is your first attempt at a competition like that!
@ktb38 Same here, Zephyr is a favourite, it was also one of my guide yarns when I was teaching myself to spin, because I wanted handspun yarns that would co-ordinate with their single colours. I also love the 2/18 Maine Line and Heathers yarns.
@ktb38 Same here, I have been using their yarns for machine knitting too, they are so nice to work with, such good workhorse yarns at reasonable prices, but most of the yarn stores don't stock them, I usually buy them online.
@whiskyfoxtrotta @StolenStitches I'm sorry to hear that. I broke my elbow a couple of years ago and it was about 6 weeks before I could knit, or start to spin again, but the spinning helped get the movement going again, it ended up being my PT.
@StolenStitches Not too bad, I finished the first sleeve on my cotton jumper and immediately picked up the stitches to start the 2nd and I picked up the stitches for the lower section of my cardigan. I'm switching between the two trying to get a bit done each day if I can.
@EdwinWaugh@MichaelRosenYes Groundhog Day was set in Punxatawney, Philadelphia, but filmed in Woodstock, Illinois, which is still very much recognisable from the film, I visited there a few years ago after buying my spinning wheel.
@ktb38 I don't belong to any in person groups, I belong to a couple of groups online. I'm happy to chat about spinning here and I do a little weaving, but my loom is a rigid heddle loom, so fairly simple. I recommend the wool 'n' spinning podcast on you tube, it is wonderful!
@kariebookish Unless you have a garter carriage (brother) most machine knit lace is stocking stitch based, or tuck lace, or fashion lace. The photo is a bit too blurry to see the texture properly.
