@yuuhaw I think we can all agree that the best part of Control were the Expeditions, and the best day to celebrate them is on the 13th of December :) - Teo

The Dark Energy model of the universe, which won a Nobel Prize in 2011, may be completely wrong.
The accelerating expansion instead is simply because time runs faster in the voids between galaxies.

@krides@motishort As some clarification, Sergey is refering to the Budjak region, which was a part of was part of Bessarabia from 1812 to 1940 and afterwards is a part of Ukraine, and in this "map" it's part of Romania, hence his guess. https://t.co/UcozpXWQZs
During World War II, the United States government struck a secret deal with imprisoned American Mafia boss Charles "Lucky" Luciano to gain the Italian mob's help in mapping out Italy for the best ways to invade during the war. In 1943, the Office of Naval Intelligence was concerned about the presence of German and Italian agents in the New York waterfront and the potential for sabotage in these facilities. The government knew that the Mafia controlled the waterfront, so they contacted Luciano, who was serving a 30 to 50-year prison sentence for compulsory prostitution.
In exchange for a commutation of his sentence, Luciano promised to use his influence to ensure that there would be no dockworker strikes during the war and to provide intelligence on enemy agents in the New York waterfront. He also allegedly provided the US military with Sicilian Mafia contacts to aid in the invasion of Sicily in 1943, known as Operation Husky. This collaboration between the Navy and the Mafia became known as Operation Underworld.
The value of Luciano's contribution to the war effort is highly debated, and it is difficult to determine the extent of his influence in the success of Operation Husky. However, the collaboration between the US government and organized crime during World War II remains a notable example of the lengths to which the government was willing to go to achieve victory.
The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad was the oldest railroad in the United States, with its first section opening in 1830. This autochrome was taken less than a century later, near Baltimore, Maryland, which I have enhanced for you. It is original colour, not colourised
In the 1840s, a list of approximately 200 supernatural beings was published by a Yorkshireman named Michael Denham.

This "Unusual Resurrections" shows the problem a painter had trying to depict the impossible. He solved it by showing the Resurrected Christ sitting on the closed lid of his coffin but with his left leg as it were still inside. As if Christ had risen miraculously through the lid.
@bacon_sanwich If you follow these simple steps, it's easy to avoid burnout:
1. Stay away from open flame when outside. Inside it's OK, you only risk burnin then.
2. Avoid all racing games, some of them are literally called Burnout.
3. Move to an earthlike planet where video games don't exist
