Yea idk, maybe I’m delusional but I’d honestly go as far as to say giving up on this guy is idiotic.

2024 : 833 OPS 21HR (102 GP)
2025 : 814 OPS 25 HR

Two back to back years of being a top 10 player in the National League…. All AFTER the suspension. If you want to give up on the 40HR seasons, I won’t stop you, but acting like he’s not an elite player still is just ridiculous from a statistical standpoint.

Looking at his career numbers, this 2026 start is CLEARLY an anomaly.

The funniest part is, all his underlying stats are still top percentile!!! I compare it to a struggling pitcher. A pitcher struggling cause his velo is down is OBVIOUSLY a lot worse than a pitcher who has great underlying metrics, who just doesn’t have command. I see Tatis in this same light. If his bat speed, or exit velo, or anything to indicate he was truly regressing had red flags, I’d be more concerned, but that’s not the case!!!

To me, when you take the emotions out of it, which I get can be hard as this stretch has been frustrating to watch no doubt, this has all been ridiculously overplayed. It just seems far more realistic we look back at this time in August and say “dam, he got off to a slow start” rather than “he fell of a cliff out of absolutely no where.”

Elite speed. Elite arm. Elite fielding. Elite contact. Elite power (coming back soon). 5 tool players aren’t a dime a dozen. Gonna take a lot more than a bad month for me to give up on this guy.
