Former Illinois cop has died in prison while serving sentence for fatally shooting a woman he believed was going to throw boiling water at him.
Sean Grayson passed away while serving his 20-year sentence for shooting Sonya Massey.
Grayson had stage 4 cancer that had spread to his lungs and liver.
He was denied a medical release by the Illinois Prisoner Review Board last month.
Grayson did not cite terminal illness as the basis for his request; instead, he applied under a provision for prisoners expected to become medically incapacitated within six months.
