This #PrideMonth, it is important to recognize non-binary and gender nonconforming people have been here from the beginning of the U.S. Here is a thread on one of the most influential such persons in early America. An abolitionist minister known as The Public Universal Friend. 1/
It takes real cheek to write @WSJ op-eds criticizing @ProPublica's reporting on SCOTUS ethics issues when you haven't yet filed your financial disclosure forms....
Lunch is their only real break.
The school has a lot of discipline issues.
Somehow I think treating the kids like humans and more adult presence might be a better way to go.
My daughter decided to homeschool via a public charter a few weeks ago. She had wanted to try out middle school this year.
There was good and bad—great teachers, rough social situations.
Yesterday the school decided that kids coming into the cafeteria had to sit 1/
they want (library, outside, etc.) and STAY THERE (caps theirs).
I told my daughter about it and she said she was so glad she wasn’t there anymore.
It made me think of prison. These kids have 5 minutes passing time between classes, and it’s a big campus for middle school. 3/
I have posted this before but ..
26 years ago, a gunman entered
Dunblane Primary School in Scotland,
killing 16 kids and a teacher. The UK
govt responded by enacting tight gun
control legislation. In the 9400+ days
since, there have been a total of O
school shootings in the UK.
As the President of the World Bank announces he will step down we have a huge opportunity to change how the bank works. Will you join me? https://t.co/r0Hn7REvWv
@paulaptlb@RobSandIA Agree, and I don’t live where there are other in-person school choices. One of my kids is in public, the other is basically homeschooled through a public charter. I used to teach at a private school. There is no way it should have gotten public funds.
@juliadahl Not for freelancers, but if you work for someone else, always have your story list full. When there’s a crappy assignment, you’re much less likely to get it because you always have something more important to work on.
@juliangough Aargh. As a former journalist (at small newspapers), the paper should have put in a line that said “Efforts to reach Microsoft in XX ways XX times over XX number of days/weeks/whatever were unsuccessful.”
@christinexdude I had a Sony Walkman cassette player and a stereo with detachable speakers that had a CD player and dual cassette. I can’t remember the brand. It was made by Sony but was their higher end brand, if I recall correctly. I had done my homework.
@MuellerSheWrote@kevinbacon I went to college with a guy who worked with a guy who was on Bosom Buddies with Tom Hanks who was in Apollo 13 with Kevin Bacon.
