The #Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race has a new champion. Ryan Redington and his dog team just crossed the finish line in Nome. Redington has deep mushing roots, his grandfather is known as the “Father of the Iditarod."

Three Native mushers currently leading the way to Nome in Iditarod really underscores where this sport and tradition came from--and how it continues to move forward.
Also, Ryan Redington came close this year to the route record set in 2011 by John Baker, another Inupiat musher.
@esp1371 It is going to be a run second half to watch, for sure, it’s so different from last year having all those leaders traveling so closely at this point.

Liz in Rainy Pass showing an empty checkpoint, minus Jen, who is awaiting transport. Also mentioned the hay will go to the ponies, those that harassed Dallas and @DallasSSweater a few years ago. #Iditarod2023#Ponygate
Insider suggests Nic will take his 24 in Nikolai. Brent just rolled out & Jessie just rolled in, with Ryan & Kelly into Nikolai as well. #Iditarod2023
