As part of TERRAGRN soil moisture monitoring, we measure water/water vapour held per soil unit. The soil's moisture-holding capacity can be influenced by regenerative practices such as incorporating organic matter & using mulch to cover the soil to reduce evaporation.

TERRAGRN has dug our own borehole, to guarantee much-needed water for our plants and to reduce our reliance (and therefore carbon footprint) on acquiring water from surrounding farms.

We, at TERRAGRN, are busy planting winter vegetables: Swiss Chard, Beetroot and Onions on an acre of the pilot site.

Amongst the range of plants TERRAGRN has planted, Erythrina humeana commonly known as the dwarf coral, an ornamental tree native to South Africa at the pilot site, has been planted.

TERRAGRN has been undertaking some controlled burning on our site to guarantee access to our roads. We manage the burning extremely carefully, leveraging our fire-trained staff & ensuring we have our water bowsers on standby, working alongside our growing fire-breakers.

It provides a forum for Nature-based Solutions project developers to learn about the theory & practical applications of regenerative farming systems.

The Validation and Verification Body (VVB), Carbon Check (India) Private Limited was on the TERRAGRN site between 6 – 8 June’23 to audit and review our project. Isha Kapoor, the lead auditor from carbon check, conducted the on-site inspection & stakeholder interviews.

As part of our soil regeneration, nitrogen-fixing plants play a critical role in ensuring TERRAGRN plants get much-needed nitrogen naturally, ensuring strong plants with healthy growth.
