Fewer genius scientists in media more dumbass scientists who don’t know what the hell they’re doing but they like asking weird questions and pursuing those questions with enthusiasm and questionable amounts of common sense
@GabrielUrbinaTM @sarahshachat @zachvalenti Y'all deserve every cent :) Your stories have brought an incredible amount of joy to my life, and I'm so happy we can help you guys continue that work
It’s nice to remember the emotions behind our scientific pursuits. Personally, my work is definitely driven by a lot of curiosity and joy and love. Science is and should be an objective, logic-based endeavor. But we must remember that it’s a deeply human one too.
Was watching YouTube videos yesterday and ended up revisiting some of my favorite science education channels like @SciShow, @tweetsauce and @minutephysics. It reminded me how much joy resides in science.
As a kid I watched documentaries and would literally get choked up from the excitement of knowing how something worked, or hearing about an outlandish but plausible theory. I got that same feeling again yesterday, which I hadn’t experienced in a while.
Story 3: It's post-nuclear war. It's Appalachia. There's a murderous woman sitting in front of Rhea.
Story 4: Some say they didn't really die, now they live down in the well.
Story 1: There is a man in the creek but it's not a man and there's someone haunting the neighborhood but it's not a ghost
Story 2: The thing at the end of the hallway only unsettled me in the mornings, in the deep stillness between 5 and 8 a.m.
For those about to rock, I salute you.🤘
For those who could use a little extra #MondayMotivation, check out these rocks I found over the weekend. Here are some pictures from the surface of Mars, just for you.

Personal growth is going from being terrified of an Egyptian mummy documentary as a kid to being able to watch Hereditary alone in the dark and then go to sleep no problem
I’ve discovered that @AlicePodcast pairs beautifully with driving I-70 at dusk through dead, grimy Midwest winter. Navigating sixteen wheelers and watching silos and black silhouettes of trees pass in the distance and counting down the miles to Indianapolis
@GabrielUrbinaTM @sarahshachat @zachvalenti For me, how to direct actors. I have a script; I have a tone I'm going for; I have an actor who probably has their own valuable perspective on the character/scene. How do I guide the actor and get something we both like?
BEING NICE IS SO FUCKING UNDERRATED
IT IS COOL TO CARE ABOUT PEOPLE
IT IS COOL TO BE PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS’ ENDEAVORS
ELIMINATE THE THOUGHT PROCESS THAT TO BE COOL YOU HAVE TO BE ALOOF
OPENLY SHARING YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVE WITH OTHERS IS MUCH COOLER
Literally every example of “outrageous wasteful spending in science” can be rephrased as “I don’t personally understand the benefits and would rather publicly attack scientists than ask or learn” https://t.co/DGx1Cl7ELS
