Oct 13, 2024, we opened https://t.co/BNwtMsF9EX in the South Bronx! This vibrant space embodies resilience, cultural heritage, and mutual care.
Thank you to the architecture, construction, and engineering teams, La Morada, and all community members who made this a reality.
If @NYCMayor believes immigrants will destroy NYC, he should resign. This multicultural city’s population is 36% foreign born. His dangerous xenophobic remarks should preclude him from leading a city of immigrants.
Colleges and universities looking for alternatives to affirmative action that center diversity & equity can reference Segregation is Killing Us. Our priority policy based on geospatial socioeconomic, health, and poverty metrics. Just alternatives exist.

Legal precedent no longer exists. This SCOTUS has given unprecedented power to the judicial branch. Our future is being determined by partisan non-elected officials. These decisions uphold dangerous power structures that stifle the working class, BIPOC communities, and children.
"With let-them-eat-cake obliviousness, today, the majority pulls the ripcord and announces 'colorblindness for all' by legal fiat, but deeming race irrelevant in law does not make it so in life." - Justice Ketanji Brown. Shame on SCOTUS.
We condemn @NYCMayor Adam’s decision to “temporarily suspend” NYC’s right to shelter law citing the “migrant surge.” The numbers from the border DON’T indicate a surge. NYC is a city of immigrants. We can’t suspend our values due to incompetence and political expediency.
This research highlights what we’ve been saying for years now. Bootstrapping a nonprofit organization as a BIPOC ED is extremely difficult. We need philanthropy to have an equitable approach to funding. We need to rethink the system and support community initiatives now!
A recent report confirmed what many of us already know:
Nonprofits in NYC are mostly led by white CEOs.
It’s an important issue to highlight because many nonprofits serve communities of color—but their leadership does not reflect that.
Oluwole Olumuyiwa (1929-2000) is a Nigerian architect who established the first Nigerian architectural practice in 1960. His work merges modernist principles with West African architectural traditions that prioritize room for communities to congregate and socialize.
"#Redlining was not a static historical act of racialized violence...but rather part of a larger structurally embedded, racialized logic of property valuation that continues to influence the distribution of privileges & risks across neighborhoods." @WUSTL https://t.co/MaAsvySgvf
Shame on the @CollegeBoard for buckling under pressure and stripping down its A.P. curriculum on African American studies. @GovRonDeSantis’ war on education is dangerous. So much for freedom of speech until that speech is uncomfortable. Speaking of… https://t.co/9RuX3SjJR4
We just testified in front of the Committee on Education for the @NYCCouncil on the impacts of segregation and the egregious and systemic policies that have maintained it. The testimony features extensive research concluded over six years by our team.

We stand @UAW7902 and the educators on strike @TheNewSchool. Threatening access to healthcare, pay cuts, harassment and intimidation are extremely violent measures as COVID-19 ⬆️ and we enter into a recession. AND nyc was just named the most $$$ in the world. Enough is enough.

1/ So the new NYC schools chancellor whose parents moved him into a high-opportunity integrated schools rescinds hard-won policies that would have done the same for the current generation. Integration disrupts opportunity hoarding! https://t.co/eBitVDaUvZ
The kafala system used to build the stadiums and infrastructure for the #FIFAWorldCup is modern day slavery. Architecture has a responsibility to acknowledge the 6,500 migrant workers who have died making Qatar’s corrupt PR fever dream come true. Y’all know who you are…
