On this day in 1980, Terry Fox arrived in Scarborough, Ontario. He told the crowd at the Civic Centre that, "I'm not doing the run to become rich or famous...To me, being famous is not the idea of the run. The only important part is that cancer can be beaten." @TerryFoxCanada
Even on a national holiday, Terry did not stop running. When Terry reached Ottawa on July 1, 1980, the atmosphere was electrifying and he was welcomed by cheering supporters. Terry’s story continues to inspire people around the world of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
