Meet Adam Coverdell, our friendly EVS & carpet tech. Adam shared that he has come to see that it's more than cleaning carpets. He feels that at the Plaza he is more than a worker, he’s part of a big family. We are so grateful he’s part of our team!

He has been an employee for 9 years! He started as a CNA & was recently promoted to a Med Aide.

Last month, we had a visit from a CBD educator and a representative from New Seasons Market on the benefits of CBD for pain management as well as its anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties. Our members were great students, asking thoughtful questions and taking notes.

She started at Terwilliger Plaza in 2009 & is an Accounts Receivable & Billing Specialist. She has lived & traveled all over the US!

In November, we had an Art Scavenger Hunt to keep people walking. Participants walked all floors of the Tower and Heights, looking for art by various artists. Our Grand Prize winner, Barbara Geiger, won a pair of turkey socks. Our 2nd place winner, Alice Ronald, won a turkey hat!
Noor is a hardworking employee who has been with Terwilliger Plaza for 15 years! He moved from Kenya to Portland to make a better life for his family. He works in Dining Services. Noor said, “I love working with my coworkers in the kitchen as well as the members.”

Meet Brenda Smith!
“Terwilliger Plaza is a great place to work. I’ve been here for 20 years. I began in the kitchen as wait staff. In 2014, I became a caregiver which was very exciting because I’ve always loved helping people. At the end of the day, I know I did something good.”

Earlier this fall, some Tervillagers joined forces with volunteers from the Youth Charity League and SOLVE Oregon to clean up the grounds of the Plaza, along with the surrounding blocks and the park across the street. We take pride in our community!

In September, in observance of National Fall Prevention Awareness Day, we were visited by Mike Mulligan of Infinity Rehab, who did an excellent presentation on the importance of “Staying Active to Prevent Falls.” It was a great presentation and we had an enthusiastic audience.

This week, the Foundation hosted a Casino Royale fundraiser. 130 guests enjoyed good times at the gaming tables, cocktails & appetizers. The highlight of the evening was a formal dinner prepared by the our expert catering staff. Proceeds go to the Lesta Hoel Memorial Trust Fund.
Terwilliger Plaza Foundation offers scholarships for employees who have completed one year of work at the Plaza & work at least 20 hours per week. Melodie Walton, Darien Boswell, & Lilen Quevedo are 3 of many employees who have received the scholarship and advanced their careers.
Maurice Stewart, member of Terwilliger Plaza, shared photographs and stories from his recent travels in Sweden and Finland in front of a full crowd. One in particular, Beetle Sphere, is a composite of five VW Beetles compressed into a ball. We love the arts at Terwilliger Plaza!
