BREAKING NEWS:
REJECTION OF STATEMENTS IMPLICATING THE LATE GENERAL ANDRE LINCOLN AT THE MADLANGA COMMISSION
"I have noted with deep concern and dismay the statements reportedly made by Mr
Fadiel Adams during his appearance before the Madlanga Commission, in which he has
sought to implicate the late General Andre Lincoln in decisions and conduct attributed
to Mr Adams.
As a lifelong friend, brother and comrade of General Lincoln, and as someone whom
Andre publicly identified as his mentor, I feel compelled to place the following on record.
Andre held the utmost respect for General Nhlanhla Mkwanazi. I also knew Andre to be a person who would never encourage or condone unlawful or unethical conduct.
Andre publicly acknowledged that I had introduced him to ANC liberation politics through Umkhonto we Sizwe. Our relationship was one of deep personal trust,
friendship and comradeship, and I therefore reject any attempt to portray him as having encouraged, facilitated or endorsed unlawful or unethical conduct.
Sadly, Andre is no longer alive to respond to these allegations or to place his own version of events before the Commission. His name should therefore not be invoked in a
manner that unfairly attributes motives, decisions or conduct to him that he cannot personally address.
It is regrettable that Mr Adams has chosen to draw the late General Lincoln into matters arising from his own testimony. I trust that the Madlanga Commission will carefully
assess the evidence before it and make appropriate findings regarding the credibility and reliability of the testimony presented to it.
General Andre Lincoln deserves to be remembered and assessed based on the life he lived, the principles he upheld and the contribution he made to South Africa, rather than
through allegations made after his death."
