@CathyKichler@phibetakitten I disengage to make my moves, then re-engage. So I want it to learn from me. If I do it a certain number of times, it should (someday) pick up on that.
1) Doesn’t adjust to a lower speed fast enough (worry about the speed traps)
2) No ML yet about human decisions (like how I prefer a longer, yet less curvy way home with wider streets, or how it’s better to enter my work parking lot from a different street).
@slye@wholemars And it's not just about one day. What about winter when you take a range hit for heating? What about 8 years down the road when you'd like to still be able to use the car with no worry on a daily basis regardless of battery degradation at that point?
This is why range matters.
@b280c_2 I’m not saying one SHOULD open a glove box while driving. I’m saying the author doesn’t realize there are multiple ways to open the glovebox, including one of the most simplest: just tell it to open
(The passenger cannot open it, there are not buttons or handles — it’s sleek)
“Basic functions like opening the glove box … require(a) using the touchscreen, which is not just inconvenient but also distracting to do while driving.”
You LITERALLY push a button on the steering wheel and speak your command!
Business Insider's Tim Levin: I drove a Tesla for the first time after testing 14 other electric cars. Now I get why people are so obsessed with Elon Musk's vehicles.
"As it turns out, the Tesla fans have a point. The Model Y has a lot going for it"

@BabsBabsmill @StanUbeki @chege_thiga Also, CA will give lower income people $9500 to junk their ICE and buy an EV. You can get a used Bolt or i3 for mid-teens. So this is a way to help the transition.
We’ve subsidized gas enough. We can help this tech along for the greater good.

@BabsBabsmill @StanUbeki @chege_thiga I agree with you on that. Mine is 4 years and the last car I’ll buy (because the updates keep if fresh enough). That said, the human desire for the next greatest thing (look at people buying the Model S Plaid — who needs to drive THAT fast??) is huge. So many will upgrade
@BabsBabsmill @StanUbeki @chege_thiga Before my Tesla, I was spending $250/month in gas for that long commute. My monthly electricity bill went up by $60 to power the same commute. EVs are MUCH cheaper. And have very few parts to break down. ICE system (OEM & dealers) depend on service$. EVs disrupt this. A 🌊 change
For those fretting about EVs in rolling blackouts … seriously, did your phone die???
(Your Tweet storm suggests it did not)
PS: gas pumps run on electricity.
@BabsBabsmill @StanUbeki @chege_thiga If you drive <50 miles/day, you can use a 110V. I do these days
But to answer your question,
w/ the rebates many utilities offer it’s covered 💯. Some give as much as $1K.
Don’t have access to them? $400-$600.
When I 1st got my 🚗 I recouped in 3-4 mos (I had a long commute)
