Oh come on Labour - so depressing to hear Pat McFadden say UK has no plans for a youth mobility scheme with the EU. We have schemes with NZ, Australia, Canada, Japan, Iceland, Uruguay - only reason not to have one with EU is fear of right wing press. Such cowardice @bbclaurak
This week Councillors Tess Read , James Banyard & I worked with Haldon Road residents on a street spruce up.
10 of us unblocked a major drain, removed woody weeds, popped bins into yards & litter picked. Every one has received info about recycling & food waste collections.
What will @UniofExeter do? Would make no sense to ignore their own climate scientists. And will @ExeterCouncil follow suit? Given net zero is the realms of pure fantasy and everyone in the council knows it, time to be honest with the public about what we can actually do now?
👏Climate and Earth scientists at #Exeter Uni are recommending carbon offsetting should be removed from plans to reach net zero and instead efforts should focus on leaving more fossil fuels in the ground.
💚Exactly so.

This bollard at Cathedral Green in #exeter was damaged, and now it looks like it is running away! Fear not, I reported it immediately and so @ExeterCouncil was able to check the CCTV and find the offending van who will be made to pay for the damage. #greenpower#wework4u
You know the world is in trouble when the New York Times prints this: “The chief executive of Exxon Mobil cautioned Trump against withdrawing from the Paris agreement to curb emissions.”
📈In her #Budget24 speech Rachel Reeves referred to growth 32 times.
🌎She didn't refer to climate once.
🌳Or nature - not a single mention.
0⃣This gives a whole new meaning to Labour's understanding of Net Zero.
Fuel duty staying frozen and discounted for another year, at 10 x what it would have cost to keep the £2 bus fare cap.
Make it make sense 🤦

So delighted that @ExeterCouncil have FINALLY divested from the fossil fuel investing Barclays Bank. It was a long fought campaign with lots of different people involved in lots of ways. Thank you everyone who made this happen! #climate#ClimateAction#fossilfuels#GreenParty
Thanks to a campaign of letter-writing ,questions to Council and my question at Scrutiny @ExeterCouncil has FINALLY divested from Barclays AND is proposing to look into an overarching ESG policy for all Treasury operations. Green activists and Green Councillors get green results!
🤔Exeter Labour claims greening the RAMM & Riverside is too challenging and cannot be achieved within budget.
☝️The contractor says the project can be delivered on time, within budget and while managing the risks.
⁉️ We need answers. We've called for an investigation.
We really need better ideas than this for #Exeter city centre. We could do so much more - there is no play park in the centre of Exeter. And why do places much smaller like Crediton, Tiverton have so much better markets than Exeter, a city not a town. Do better @ExeterCouncil!
❗️#Exeter Labour abandon green energy heating schemes at RAMM & Riverside Leisure Centre.
🤔 Is this Labour throwing in the towel on cutting carbon emissions and energy bills?

"We need the Labour Council to make a sharp U-turn on this crazy idea. This is a prime site and we have a once in a generation opportunity to transform it into something distinctive for the benefit of residents and visitors alike." ~ @TessRead
