@bowtiedstocks Worse yet, the advisers only recommending this fund once it had initial strong performance and a Morningstar Gold rating and getting poor performance thereafter and charging 1% for trouble. Tale older than time.
@PinguCapital@Flynn_T1982 Forget death taxes, age pension without means testing home reasonably is effectively a gift to the kids once sold unencumbered. Parts of Asia where barely any nursing homes enforce rules for kids to support parents (mandatory $ parent support) and active visits.
@bowtiedstocks Given how much I find junior and adult leagues in Australia by peeps from the subcontinent I find it staggering our national and even state leagues make up hasn't really changed. Not sure where the crossover will be.
@PinguCapital Tim Dillon spoke about this recently and definitely see similarities in Australia. A consequence of families forced to move away from family due to affordability and habits broken IMO https://t.co/Vurr9Ofky7
@rationalaussie Few travel rather most just move to a near identical location culturally to that they live in. I've heard similar sentiments to the running boom in that it's an endeavour that they somewhat can control and progress towards goals as a substitute for other life goals.
@0xRuzy People have become more suspicious of philanthropy globally so best not to raise suspicions. That and many of the wealthiest now are asset rich but cash poor relative to their wealth and don't have cash flows to direct to causes. Selling feels more like a lost opportunity cost.
@LambDownUnder Index change methodology earlier in the year resulting in rebalancing & fund had around 50% turnover throughout the year resulting in profits realised that have to be returned. One off change, nothing to be concerned about except for some tax inefficiency. https://t.co/EkrQvGGhJ9
Don’t kill the houseplant Maria🪴
Maria bought her first home with Labor’s 5% deposit scheme and told us she wouldn’t have been able to buy without our government’s support.
From today, every first home buyer can do the same. We’re cutting years off the time it takes people to save a deposit for that first home.
So you can start paying off your own mortgage, not someone else’s.
Enjoy your new place, Maria!
@PinguCapital I'd imagine admin a punish but feel Centrelink Home Equity Scheme may come into vogue at 150% of max pension at insane 3.95%. I'd be cautious of touching heavy as don't trust them changing the rules. For something this important there should be bipartisan support and link to 10y.
@PinguCapital And to the peeps who say they'll definitely be able to downsize I often wonder how many people just trial business class with the points and can never fly economy again and locked themselves into a higher lifetime travel cost.
@PinguCapital Even if doesn't go down, from my experience that equity will never be realised (many don't downsize) so unless they value the renovation and has improved their lifestyle, they've locked themselves into a worse lifestyle with the possible wealth to be inherited.
@markbouris You know that story is almost certainly false and was PR to secure the rights as contested in courts as well as historical weather reports?
