If the Covid surge in the US follows the pattern of the UK and India, we’ll see cases top 200,000 in the coming weeks—but we may also see a sharp and sudden decrease soon after.
Why do explosive surges caused by Delta seem to burn out so quickly? A theory...

The virus is on the run in the US. Cases are down tenfold from the peak, but they're still three times higher than the level at which we can effectively control spread, and millions of unvaccinated people still face high risk of infection.
It really worries me that in a few years everyone will forget the importance of pandemic preparedness and then when the next pandemic comes we will be in a similar position as in this one and repeat all the same mistakes.
No one is safe until everyone is safe. But can we better secure the spaces in which we work and holiday to reduce the risk of COVID19 spread? @TestZonedx thinks we can, and should.

The sad, scary and plain truth is that pandemics even deadlier than Covid could happen at any point in the future. We must work together as a world to make sure we are never again caught so unprepared.
This is exactly why we need rapid tests and why they must be done frequently.
Viral load is not static.
At any given time, 2% of ppl carry 90% of the viral load. Who those people are changes day to day as the virus grows and falls inside ppl.

This type of official guidance is so important. When our group reached out to businesses many months ago, most were reluctant to adopt antigen testing because no such official guidance existed at the time.
An important update: After many months, the CDC now identifies antigen tests as a useful screening tool that can help re-open workplaces.

This guidance is important. Rapid tests - used in an integrated program of #COVID19 suppression - will be essential to safely reopening workplaces.
@TestZonedx is already designing & implementing such programs

👇Fascinating & relevant thread illustrating how accepted wisdom & entrenched positions are nothing new in epidemiology.
Particularly relevant as the authorities quietly acknowledge that #SARSCoV2 is spread through aerosols.

1/ TIME FOR SOME AIRBORNE + DROPLET HISTORY
Now that @WHO and @CDCgov have finally accepted *after a year of denial and delays* that airborne transmission is a major mode for COVID-19, it is time to review the history to try to understand why this response was so poor.

'Everything in the #COVID19 pandemic is about trust. Innovation is needed in behavioural science on how we as communities & individuals:
-understand epidemics & behave during them
-process information & advice
-build trust
That's as scientific as building vaccines'-@DrMikeRyan
