Day 44/66 #66write
Everyone's needs are different, and therapists are only human.
But it's important to talk about how impactful their actions can be.
Because a seemingly harmless remark from a trained expert can shape your future medical care.

Day 44/66 #66write
The decision to seek therapy for your mental health can be an extremely difficult one to make.
It will require you to be open and trusting with a complete stranger- while you hope they won't judge, trivialise or label your concerns.

Day 41/66#66write
I learnt to hold on to my dreams a bit loosely. To expect the other shoe to drop, more times than not.
While it lessened the disappointment, it limited how high I set the bar.
It kept me safe. But it shrunk my experience of life.

Day 41/66 #66write
No one tells you that life after IPV is about reinventing yourself. Repeatedly.
There's no blueprint for it. You figure it out as you go. You stumble. And fall. You fail.
You learn to live with uncertainty.

Not only did I understand the benefits of running, I felt them.
Yet, earlier this year, I stopped running.
I skipped one day, then two, then three, now it feels like four..ever.

What I need to find is the balance between work, play & rest.
To let go of the idea that they're mutually exclusive.
To learn how to fuel one using the other.
Agree? Or disagree?
Day 35/66 #66write
Several years ago, I stopped running solely for weight loss.
Running became my way to:
-Stay sane
-Sleep better
-Re-energize
-Take the edge off stress
Running became a need not a want.

“To deal with something unhealthy, a person needs to be as healthy as possible. In other words, an unhealthy soul requires a healthy body.”

It's a sensitive time and we need to be mindful of what we say.
Here are 3 invalidating phrases I've heard said to the bereaved.
-At least they lived a long life
-They wouldn't want you to be sad
-You need to be strong for your mother.
Anything else?

Day 31/66 #66write
I have sadly witnessed the deaths of my family and those of close friends in the last couple of years.
In that time, I've learnt that grief is a universal and unique experience.
There's no right or wrong way to go about it. 1/2

Day 31/66 #66write
Our parents are our first source of comfort and support. They're who we turn to when we're hurting.
How do we offer them the same support when they're in need?

Day 31/66 #66write
The first time I saw my mom crying was the day my aunt passed on. I was 5 yrs old.
Before then I'd known parents don't cry. I didn't know what to say or do.
Fast forward to June 2023- she's grieving the loss of my uncle.
I still struggle with words.
